I really like flycatchers. They are very graceful and fast birds. When flycatchers are busy observing flying insects, you can carefully approach them.
They are not very shy. They have a special ritual of catching flying insects. The flycatcher never flies up to a flying insect in a straight line. She always makes a semicircle and, as a rule, flies up to the insect from behind. This is good because the insect does not see the flycatcher and does not attempt to fly away from the flycatcher.
Rarely does a flycatcher miss its prey.
Some people dislike the flycatcher because it catches butterflies. Personally, I have only seen once a flycatcher carrying a butterfly in its beak. It mainly preys on small flying insects.
Flycatchers can often be seen in small flocks of 5-6 individuals. They usually hunt in the same meadow. Sometimes they even sit on the same tree. They never take food from each other. They treat each other very peacefully.
