Update on the stork family

You may remember my two posts about the stork family who lives near my workplace. A month ago I saw the little storks in the nest. Then I went to check their progress and made a second post and this week again I used my lunch time to sneak and have a look and oh my, they have grown.

The little ones are left on their own but they cannot leave the nest yet. Shame I have not much time to stay and watch them. Would be nice to see the parents coming and feeding them.

Their beaks are not red yet and still shorter than the ones of an adult bird.

The nest is huge and the birds got plenty of space to move around, do whatever they want to do, put their feathers in order for example.

Although I was far from the nest, it seemed they knew I was watching them.

I don't know why they were keeping their beaks open. They did not make any sounds.

In the end of the post I would like to share a video from Youtube. Thanks to The Bulgarian society for protection of birds a camera is broadcasting live from a village the nest of the storks. If you are interested you can have a look. The three young storks are about to start flying. They haven't left the nest and still wait for their parents to feed them.
