The bright red male Northern Cardinal gets all the attention, often appearing on Christmas cards, and representing sports teams, but the female Cardinal is a lovely bird, too!
Cardinals mate for life and you seldom see one without the other.
They are most often in the underbrush and tangled brambles and this is also where the build their nests.
The Cardinal Females are pale brown with reddish tinges in the wings, tail, and crest. They have the same black face as the male, and an orange bill.
