Backyard Blue Jays

Commonly seen in backyards and woodlots in the Eastern US, Blue Jay's are a loud and colorful bird. They are Intelligent and adaptable, , and are quick to take advantage of bird feeders.

Blue Jay's are omniverous and will eat acorns, beechnuts, and other nuts, many kinds of seeds, grain, berries and small fruits.
They also eat many insects, including caterpillars, grasshoppers. and spiders. I have come to realize that they are one of the reasons that I have few opportunities to take insect photos!

These autumn leaf photos were taken today. The muted colors on this bird make me suspect that it is a youngster that was hatched this summer
