Most times, the point at which people give up is just a step away from their success and if they give up, the steps they have put in will be futile. I normally tell people that the point they feel like giving up is the point they are required to put in an extra effort. For you to win, you have to remove the mentality of quitting. It might just be a minor setback that, if responded to appropriately, will make you stronger and better. The truth is, falling does not mean an outright failure. I have read stories of people that have fallen repeatedly and were still able to hit their breakthroughs because they never allowed their failures to define them. The truth is, you are never a failure because you did not succeed at an attempt, but because you stopped trying. I once watched a particular kickboxing tournament between two heavyweight kickboxers that taught me a few things about life that I have applied in many aspects of life. In round 1, one of the competitors suffered from a massive knockdown. Not only was he knocked down, he lost that round. This same thing happened in the second round and he was knocked down too. However, in all these knockdowns, he was able to raise up before the countdown elapsed and still fought on. As the tournament progressed, everyone had concluded that he would lose the tournament because of the number of times he was knocked down, but he still had faith in succeeding and that was why he kept on the match with high spirit. Each time they took a break, his coach would tell him "you can make it". This boosted his morale and kept him on his feet. By the last round, something spectacular happened - out of nowhere, he was able to connect a catastrophic kick to the lower jaw of his opponent which knocked his opponent out. Amazingly, the countdown elapsed and he was declared the winner. You see, even though he was knocked down at the initial rounds, he finally won by knockout. If he had given up when he was knocked down, he would have exempted himself from winning by knockout. He kept going because he could see the victory coming. More so, his coach kept reassuring him that he could still win. This also goes to prove that the arrival of success can be hastened if we surround ourselves with people of positive mentality. In the course of your life's journey, do not stay around people that tell you that you cannot make it. Even in the midst of difficulties, there must be a way around the corner but that is if you put your determination in place.
