Human-made Things
Human-made structures can pose problems to birds, when migratory birds move the well-informed leader bird guides avoiding collisions, some decide it is a meeting place to ready flocks for migratory routes using telephone lines to perch upon.
Power-lines, bridges, homes, turbines all may be used by birds in the wild, perhaps they no longer notice human-made things, try to put them to use.
Accidents happen when birds collide with electrical wires, fencing, windows, flip-side special breeding boxes for owls, or platforms for storks are erected worldwide to assist birds co-exist with humans.
Human-made prisons in caging of birds I simply don't agree with, why purchase a bird stolen from the wild to put on display in confined space. Sorry one thing I do not accept unless huge flying area is manufactured to suit conditions bird is accustomed to, for educational purposes. caging is simply not good!
By Maya Angelou
A free bird leaps
on the back of the wind
and floats downstream
till the current ends
and dips his wing
in the orange sun rays
and dares to claim the sky.
But a bird that stalks
down his narrow cage
can seldom see through
his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and
his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.
The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.
The free bird thinks of another breeze
and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
and the fat worms waiting on a dawn bright lawn
and he names the sky his own.
But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.
The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.
