Hello dear friends Happy new year 2022.
Normally we celebrate each new year in India with our near and dear feathered friends But since last year, we are not able to travel because of covid-19.
We are missing them. Our garden itself is like one bird sanctuary. during our stays we have seen many different species. We have lots of fruit trees, small flower bushes and coconut palms.They are getting enough food from the trees and insects. They enjoy their freedom and we enjoy watching their activities. We put some water pots for them all around the house but mostly they prefer one place to drink, take baths, and play with the water .It is very engaging for me and my husband @eolianpariah but we love it. In the beginning they were shy but slowly slowly more of them started feeling safe and secure. Today i am presenting one of my favorite birds blue-winged leafbird there are several species of leafbird and we have observed two in our garden.
As the name suggests they look remarkably similar to green leaves. In the beginning it was very hard to spot them.
distinguishing female and male is very hard but after a few years observation vi started being able to recognize them. this is a male bird. April was quite warm and he was looking for his bath.
After his bath he was calling with very sweet melodious songs and mimics. The calls include pleasant whistles and chatters which are very nice to hear. Even from inside the house we know when they are around.
And here is a wet and cool bird in the middle of the hot day. The birds coming for water can be seen through the front window where i sit with my computer and camera.
