BIRD ART
I am from the Philippines and the national bird of my country is called the Philippine Eagle. I live in a place in the Philippines called Davao City where the Philippine Eagle Center is found.
The Philippine Eagle Center is home to 36 Philippine Eagles, half of which are bred in captivity. The Center simulates a tropical rain forest environment which mirrors the country's forest ecosystem and aims to not only preserve and propagate this endangered eagle specie but also help in educating people on conservation efforts of both the Philippine Eagle and the country's forests.
I do not have my own photo of the Philippine Eagle. Until I do, I would have to make do with showing you this majestic feathered friend in art form. Here's one I find quite interesting.
You might wonder if this is a painting, or a figurine, or some kind of digital art. It's none of the above. This photo is a macro shot of the latest 1,000 Philippine Peso bill minted by our Central Bank.
In April 2022, the BSP, or the Central Bank of the Philippines, began the circulation of the new and improved 1000-Piso Polymer Banknotes. In case you are wondering, polymers make up many of man-made materials such as plastics, rubbers and glass. This new banknote are known to be SMARTER (more secure and sustainable), CLEANER (more hygienic and sanitary), and STRONGER (durable and cost-effective) than paper banknotes. In fact, this peso bill won the 2022 "Banknote of the Year Award” by the global non-profit organization International Banknote Society (IBS).
It really is quite different from that of paper bills because they have the feel of smooth and slippery plastic film and definitely feels like it will stay fresh for a long time despite it changing hands hundreds of even thousands of times.
The use of the Philippine Eagle is a departure from the usual practice of using the faces of different heroes of our country. And one of its purpose is to create awareness of the critical condition of this national treasure.
