Show Me A Picture Contest Round 133 - The Pearl Of The French Alps

Hello everyone. Let's welcome Round 133 of this very challenging contest, the SMAP or Show Me A Photo, hosted by @nelinoeva. If you still don't know about this, do read up about it here. We definitely look forward to seeing you here soon.

The theme for this week is:

PREENING

In August of this year my daughter who lives in Germany visited Switzerland. While there, she and her friends visited the Swiss Alps and stayed in Geneva when they were not trekking up the mountains. However, they found out that just across the border from Geneva was already France and so they decided to enter France. Where in France? In Annecy! It is the largest city in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of Southeastern France and lies on the northern tip of Lake Annecy, 35 kilometres south of Geneva, Switzerland. Also called the Little Venice of France because of the Thiou canals that flow throughout the city, Annecy has become a major tourist draw because of the scenic view of the cleanest lake in France, Lake Annecy, surrounded by the French Alps, green in the summer and snow capped in the winter. And lastly, Annecy is where our creative art consultant, @barbara-orenya, resides. What a coincidence.

Aside from the boat rides that could be taken around Lake Annecy, tourists can walk around the banks of the numerous canals in the city lined with flowers, restaurants, cafes, old structures and, guess what? Feathered Friends!

I remembered these photos when this week's theme for SMAP was announced because upon a closer look of the photos, I realized the ducks were actually preening while atop a mooring rope. And so, I was able to enter this week's contest ahaha. The photo below is my entry which is a crop of the preceding photo.

And that's about it. Perhaps in another post I will write more about Annecy, a place I definitely would like to spend not only a day in but probably the rest of my life. I do hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed doing it. The best of luck to all the participants. Keep safe and healthy, everyone. Have yourself a blessed weekend 😊
