| Этих ярких уток я сфотографировала в июне 2016 в Аптекарском огороде в Москве. | I photographed these bright ducks in June 2016 in the Aptekarsky Garden in Moscow. |
| Этот сад не такой уж и большой, но летом становится приютом не для одной семьи огарей или красных уток (лат. Tadorna ferruginea). | This garden is not that big, but in the summer it becomes a haven for more than one family of Ruddy shelducks (lat. Tadorna ferruginea). |
| На маленьком прудике с фонтаном вниманием посетителей полностью завладели эти красивые птицы. | On a small pond with a fountain, these beautiful birds completely captured the attention of visitors. |
| На деревянном помосте стоял отец семейства. Он не боялся людей, можно было подойти довольно близко и внимательно рассмотреть красавчика. Голова у огарей более светлого цвета, чем общее ярко рыжее оперение. | The father of the family stood on a wooden platform. He was not afraid of people, you could get pretty close and carefully examine the handsome man. The head of the Ruddy shelduck is lighter in color than the general bright red plumage. |

| Самцы и самки примерно одинаковой окраски. Но в период гнездования на шее самцов проявляется темное кольцо. Поэтому я и определила, что на предыдущей фотографии именно отец семейства. | Males and females are about the same color. But during the nesting period, a dark ring appears on the neck of males. Therefore, I determined that in the previous photo it was the father of the family. |
| А вот и мамаша плавает в прудике. | And here is the mother swimming in the pond. |
| Огари создают моногамные пары. Известно, что они довольно агрессивны к посторонним сородичам и птицам других видов в период гнездования. Поэтому лучше, когда у каждого семейства своя территория. В Аптекарском огороде две семьи огарей мы встретили в разных концах парка. | Ruddy shelducks form monogamous couples. They are known to be quite aggressive towards another relatives and birds of other species during the nesting period. Therefore, it is better when each family has its own territory. In the Pharmaceutical Garden, we met two families of Ruddy shelducks at different ends of the park. |

| Особенно трогательными и вызвавшими всеобщее умиление, конечно, были утята, которые выбрались на помост и встали ровно так, как показывал папаша. Молодцы, прекрасно получилось! | Particularly touching and causing universal emotion, of course, were the ducklings, which climbed onto the platform and stood up exactly as daddy showed. Well done guys, great job! |
