a few years back we were in varanassi for some days. the ancient city was very interesting and of course we spend much of our time there along the ganges. we took a "bath" as is the custom, there were great views of the ghats from a nice boat ride on the river. we weren't alone, along with the other boats there were plenty of gulls hoping to get fed from the boat tourists.
back home in shiroda it was planting season for the paddy farmers. a mixed bag of several species of egrets gather to feed on whatever the plow uncovers
