this flock of glossy ibis is mostly on the ground feeding but if there is any disturbance they are quick to take to the air. they circle atound a bit and check to see if it is safe to land or if there is any better alternatives for the moment. the photo is taken from one of our favorite local spots to view water birds. that is a small marshy area in a village called parabwada outside the small city of vengurla in sindhudurg, maharashtra. the seasonal marsh forms during the monsoon in june and last until around february so the birds gradually seek other more favorable places to feed when it dries out.
