I actually had this post written last weekend but was hit with the worst flareup of my AS for about 6 years during this week and only now have managed to get back to it and hit that publish button!
This is my personal review of the XV token which I have deliberately chosen to post within the Silver Bloggers community
Most reviews I see around Hive are 100% pro or against, likewise with any crypto it seems to 100% pro or against generally with the caveat DYOR Do Your Own Research.
We can be for something, but surely there are some concerns that have been thought of and taken care of?
Mention them.
Is something better suited to person A than to person B?

Well let's get to it!
When I first heard of XV I immediately thought of my school rugby football days where the team had fifteen players and was known as the XV (for info I was 9 or 14 points for guessing and commenting on what two positions those were!)
What the actual fluff is XV token?
XV (pronounced 15) is SPinvest's latest investment token and I love the concept. Diagram Source
Concept
- @spinvest mints 1 billion XV tokens
- XV tokens are sold 1st March 2023 - 10th May 2023 priced at 1 HIVE each.
- @spinvest takes the HIVE and buys a basket of 15 (XV) crypto tokens.
- @spinvest hodls tokens in an offline wallet for 2 years.
- @spinvest then cashouts crypto tokens and converts to Hive.
- @spinvest calculates the HIVE value per XV token and add a buy-back wall to the hive-engine.
In June 2025 all XV Investors Cashout in theory a tidy profit.
The one good thing about having a flare up, is that I have updated this post from last weekend with information obtained during this week.

Investments
Tokens sale have been ok, but only ok with selling around 2500 tokens.
This is from the report I mentioned previously and I would say that is rather disappointing. Sales have been available for 24 days now.
So the good thing thing is that Investments have been made.
The XV have been chosen!
Here are the XV and their (current) allocations.
Top 1-3 - Bitcoin BTC, Ethereum ETH, Cardano ADA - 35%
Top 4-6 - BNB, XRP, Dogecoin DOGE - 25%
Top 7-10 - Polygon MATIC, Solano SOL, Shiba Inu SHIB, Litecoin LTC - 25%
Top 11-15 - Stacks STX, Avalanche AVAX, Polkadot DOT, Fantom FTM, Chainlink LINK - 10%
I did mention current allocations as this is slightly different to the allocations that were proposed in the initial SPinvest newest token release coming soon - XV
Allocation will be split
40% to the top 3 holdings (3)
25% to cryptos 4-6 (3)
25% to cryptos 7-10 (4)
10% to cryptos 11-15 (5)

I had some concerns which were already answered and these are ...
Q Can I recommend a crypto which is not listed as one of the XV?
No, the basket will be decided on by @silverstackeruk on behalf of SPinvest. I have seen from past results that public voting is not the best form of selection for investment. I'm not Warren Buffet but I think I have a level enough head.
This is a biggie for me. I wanted to know if I can't help to decide what tokens we have, then who is? I have not been on Hive that long so I don't everyone, however I have seen what the SPI family do. I am a big fan of the Saturday Savers family and as @coquicoin says I do like to recruit hehe.
In addition I had @shanibeer on Talk Time with Tengo who explained who was behind the SPI family, and Silver Stacker gets my vote. I have been a Projects Manager in the oil industry and love detailed reports. The reports Silver Stacker and on the ball.
So whilst on a personal level I do not like not being able to impact the XV selection, I have no problem in letting @silverstackeruk be the fund manager for want of a better term.
A NO you cannot, BUT XV has a USP in @silverstackeruk who does the choosing!
Q What the fluff is USP?
A Simples it is Unique Selling Point! So @silverstackeruk chooses the coins and does all the reports. All you need to do is sit back and enjoyand read the reports!
Monthly reports will be uploaded to the @spinvest account showing the crypto we hold, their allocation to the basket, month to month and overall growth charts to be as transparent as possible.
Q 2 years is a long time, can I sell my tokens?
A This is one of the reasons I posted this in the Silver Bloggers community.
You will be able to sell your XV tokens on the open exchange where the price will be determined by the market and pool of buyers at that time.
As we are Silver Bloggers, you knows what is round the corner. So because we do have the XV tokens in out wallet we will be able to sell them. How much we get is anyone's guess!
Q What are the hidden costs?
A There is always a BUT (isn't there)?
HIVE value per XV - 1.04 HIVE not sellable for 2 years and 7 weeks 😮
It would appear we are in profit ....
BUT
SPinvest will collect a small fee of just 5% at the buyback stage in June 2025. For an actively managed fund, 5% for 2 years is decent and SPI has to get a cut🤑
So not quite ... however (see not a BUT) I have to agree that the management fee of 5% is pretty darn low.
Q Are the XV set in stone?
A Another of my questions and in short no they are not!
Cryto as we know is full of scams, rug pulls and god knows what else. As I said I have only been on Hive for a year and a half, I have been involved in cryptocurrencies for close on ten years, so I have seen my fair share of things!
Remember I said XV has a USP... Yes of course you do! So it is up to @silverstackeruk to keep his ear to the ground, which he does I believe and rebalance our XV portfolio.
Rebalancing is an artform in itself. I won't bore you with the details but have a read of Crypto Rebalancers - Are they any good? from @spinvest which explains what he is using to perform this.
If @silverstackeruk gets a rebalancing premium on the XV portfolio then the 5% will seem like nothing!
My recommendation!
- If you are looking to get some low-risk exposure to crypto then XV is for you!
I say low-risk because of course every crypto investment has the potential to end up at 0, however as almost a quarter of XV is held in Bitcoin and Ethereum, that is about as low risk as you can get. Remember Bitcoin is number 1 for a reason.
Personally I am undecided as I don't like spreading myself too thin and 2 years is a long time. I have my crypto portfolio and so far have kept HIVE separate.
Well here we go, as I read this, I went fluff it and decided that I will dip my toes in the water and get some...
