She Has Gotten a Third Eye

With my bag in hand, I was about to go out from my parent's house yesterday evening when Mom while being fed by my niece started asking who was the other girl who arrived with them. There weren't any other people who just came in besides my sister and her daughter yet Mama said she saw another girl coming in with them.

My niece got confused and told her grandma that it was only her and her mother, her father was still upstairs. "Yes I saw you both, your Mom sat there (pointing to the place where my sister was sitting) and you were standing and the other girl was with you, who is she?" Mama kept on.

There was fright in my niece's eyes, "La, don't do that to me. I'm the one switching the lights on at home and in the garage when it gets dark!" she said stomping her feet and stopped feeding her grandma.

"Halla, who might that be that came with you. Show yourself so we can see you." I teased my niece all the more. "Your 'la has a third eye now so take advantage of it and ask her things you wanna know. I'm sure she will have a lot of answers," I continued and we all laughed of my niece's reaction. They were still laughing when I excused myself and left because it was getting dark and the road coming back to our little kingdom isn't really glamorous to drive through.

But actually, that wasn't the first time when Mom said she saw someone else besides us, at times I'd hear her talk like she was conversing with someone. On the last 3 days, I heard her say things that confused me much so I often ask if she is talking to somebody I couldn't see. And she'd say she isn't or at times, just stay silent.

"You come back later okay? He went to feed the dogs and it will take him a long time. We have 3 dogs, you see." I heard her saying the other day. But it's true that at that time, Dad went out to feed their 3 dogs. "Mom, who are you talking to?" I asked and she said no one. And so I teased she's gotten a third eye, LOL!

But yeah, she has gotten older and she seems to be forgetting a lot of things. My husband thinks she might be having early symptoms of Alzheimer's. We are very hopeful though that she'd recover and regain strength at least on her legs for she loves walking around their yard.

I was overjoyed yesterday morning 'coz with her cane and our assistance, she was able to enjoy the sunshine outdoors. I left her yesterday evening with high hopes for I truly believe that when I go back in a few day's time, she'd be walking on her own.

Happy weekend everyone!
