Anniversary Nightmare?

Charlene was out basking under the sun on a daybed waiting for her husband to come out and join her. They are spending the weekend at that private villa for their 1st wedding anniversary. They haven't planned on anything special but they just want to have a relaxing time away from their home and recharge.

"Oh, that feels a lot better!" she was pleased as she leaned back on the soft cushion under the bed's canopy, holding the glass of white wine on her hand. She felt a lot more comfortable and the heat of the sun isn't that strong under the wee shade.

She had been waiting for while but for some reason Nick isn't coming out. Perplexed, she decided to check on him. "What could be taking him so long..." she wondered as she headed towards the door.

Peeking through, she couldn't believed what she saw. Her husband Nick is nowhere and the room was a mess. "This isn't the room I came out from," she was so confused and her heart was pounding hard.

"Nick! Where are you?" she screamed as she ran towards the other room. The lights suddenly went out and everything was dark. For the very first time, she felt really scared. Her knees weakened as she struggled to find the door.

She held her breathe when she heard something moved from somewhere close. "Would you want a trick or a treat?" a hoarse voice came around yet she couldn't see a thing.

"Who are you? Is this some kind of a joke?" she mustered some courage yet still worried what might have happened to her husband Nick.

"Joke? Ha ha ha ha!" the voice was getting closer. "Trick or treat?" he repeated, this time, firm and strong. Not a hint of humor in his words.

She closed her eyes tightly and screamed, "Abracadabra!" fully believing in her heart that the children's storybook magic word might work.

"Ha ha ha ha!" the voice roared loudly and she felt his breath on her face. She opened her eyes and froze...

"No, this isn't going to be the end of me!" her mind was still at work. "I have to find Nick," her thoughts continued. Taking the last ounce of courage, she took a deep breath, pushed the man hard and ran as fast as she could.

"Charlene, baby. Wake up..." Nick came out from the shower and found his wife moaning on her sleep. He was amused to see her fall asleep in the middle of the day and didn't wish to wake her up but she seems to be having a bad dream.

And indeed she was...

The warm weather plus the wine made her drift into Halloween-Land in so short a time.🤣

This is just a wee fiction created by the fragments of my wonky imagination for the SilverPrompt topic and incidentally, for the Trick or Treat challenge by HiveBuzz.

Happy New Week folks!
