Change is good
Before highlighting stand-out entries, and because we're learning as we go, there are a few changes to how #bow will work in future:
- Prizes
Our Dizzy Blonde Lizzy, @lizelle, has pledged 20 Hive in prizes for each #bow and it will be allocated as follows: 10 Hive for the winning post and 5 Hive each to the runners up. - Playing fair
Based on @galenkp's excellent suggestion, the same person (account) may not win two consecutive blogs of the week. In short, this week's winner, should s/he contribute to the next edition, could get a special mention in the curation (winners') post, but not be eligible for a prize. - The new topic announcements will be posted the Monday (7 days) before the next deadline and separate from the "winning post".

This edition of the #bow
This time we've had nine entries about memories dear to people's hearts. How is that? Nine entries reached us by the August 9th deadline!
Do pop over and read the contributions (not mentioned below) and which are in the announcement post comments here. Remember that even if posts have expired, you can still comment and reward deserving posts by sending a tip.
Things dear to our hearts
As usual, there were some outstanding contributions, including from last week's winner. His Teddy reminded me of my Yellow (..teddy and made me wonder what happened to him. Yes, he was yellow, and before I could pronounce it properly, he was known as Lello...). This post, in line with @galenkp's proposal, and which we've accepted, was not considered for a prize. Nor were Lizelle's memories of her beloved uncle.
Speaking of family, this was, of course, a recurring theme: @mjvdc treasures family photographs in this time of the Venezuelan diaspora, and @pandamama celebrates her children through memories dear to her heart.
For the first time in a while, the panel was unanimous in its choices and reaching consensus was not difficult.
Going to America
Who still has a photograph album? I have several, and @isabelpena does, too.
This one is particularly special as it holds the memories of her visit to America. At the ripe old age of 19. By all accounts, a very happy trip. Read it here to see why.
Strawberry Sundaes with Grandpa Magellan
We loved @soyjudith's memories of her trumpeter grandfather, accompanied by photographs of him and the family together - from her childhood and until not long before he passed - at 92.
Full of fun he was, and and with a penchant for ice cream.
Blog of the Week
This week, there was one contribution that really socked it to us all. You know that old, and special item that you know that you should throw out, and then you do, and then you shouldn't have? Well, this is exactly @millycf1976's ode to story of her lost the socks she threw out.
I kept thinking I could have packed the frigging socks...
Her story is poignant, funny and certainly made me feel better for holding on to some of my Mum and Dad's socks...twenty plus years after the fact...
