Blog of the Week Winners - 19 October 2021

For this edition of the Silver Bloggers Blog of the Week, there were 13 entries and one entry from Silver-Blonde Lizzie and which was ineligible for consideration. Three entries met all the criteria by sharing their links in our #bow Discord channel. We're also discovering that some front-ends don't post into our community. Because of these glitches, the panel took an executive decision and considered all entries from subscribed accounts - another new criterion.

As a reminder, here are the current criteria for entering the Silver Bloggers Blog of the Week initiative:

1. Posts must be in English and obviously centre on the week’s topic.
2. Prose must be a minimum of 350 words. If it’s a photo or graphic essay, the photos must be your original work and preferably with some sort of back-story to the images.
3. The blog must be posted in/from our community
4. The account must be a subscribed Silver Blogger
5. Use #BoW - blog of the week - as your first tag. And follow the tag so we can all easily find, upvote and comment on other entries.
6. Share the link to your entry in the comments of this post and in our Discord channel which is open to subscribed members only.

We will be applying these more strictly for the next edition.

Happiest Memories

Again, this was a theme that seemed to do it for people. Again, it was a difficult decision. First up, our founder's entry was true to form: she couldn't pick just one. Go and read about her happy memories here.

Special mention

As it turned out, and when the judges pooled their choices, two of the three selected entries had been logged in our #bow Discord. We figured that the third entry from new subscriber, @devania deserves special mention for her entry:

She, too, couldn't confine herself to just one and begins with the marriage of a special niece.

Close seconds

We were hard-pressed to pick between the two next entries and it has nothing to do with their handles that have something in common. @ifarmgirl's memories of her time in her 20s, took me smack bang back into my own. Oh, those were fabulous years! Read about hers here.

Silver Jackie also had "too many to list" before settling on the time ahead of her daughter's wedding, and the wedding, itself. Read about those special times here.

This old softie got a lump in her throat at that story, but even more so with the next.

Never too old to learn - the winner

This week's deserved winner is Silver Clicker whose post took me through a rollercoaster of emotions - sadness and almost tearful elation.
