This is the list that, bar one and a bit items, I aim to have done before bed today. Work began yesterday.
Three down (koeksisters, shortbread and pastry), six, hopefully seven to go!
Last night, I happily made the first batch of basil pesto of the season. Without worrying that I had denuded the plants. With homemade tagliatelle and lightly sauteed bell pepper, this is one of my archetypal tastes of summer.
Oh, and of course, without much effort, the colours make it, well, pretty enough to eat.
Today is dawning cool and damp. Perfect weather for (not) sweating over a hot gas stove. Not for the market. Not for Christmas. The Weather Man tells me he organised this. Just for me. For today...
Oh, and for those observant, yes that is a new structure across the road. Our country village is beginning to look townish. The grinch is not entirely enamoured. Especially as two houses are planned for the plot next door.
