A power free day

I love raindrops and how they hang around after 5 glorious milimitres of rain. Yesterday morning, everything looked bright, refreshed and sparkly.

It was a good way to begin a day that we had a scheduled power outage. I had a few things planned that could be done without power - electric power that is.

In a pickle with 12 hours of no electricity? No problem: I pickled. To stock up for the busy season ahead.

Here the are, labelled and stashed in the stock cupboard and where they must pickle - seriously - for at least another week.
If you want the recipe, it's here.

Then I had a meeting with a village property owner who lives in Scotland. Let's just say that this could be the embryo of another listing. If his vision (and mine) comes to pass, it'll be almost a greenfields project that The Husband and I will be involved with - him a bit of oversight and then snagging and then with me, the set up for guests and, ultimately, management of the property. So, as they say, keep your fingers crossed.

Oh, and it's so good not to be treated like a mushroom! Speaking of which - remember them from a few days ago?

They became last night's pasta supper. With my favourite and now now so new flavour pairing: caramelised obion, garlic and thyme.

I served them on top of homemade pasta through which I had stirred a huge handful of freshly chopped parsley. Topped with slivers of an 18 month mature, locally made parmesan style cheese.

Of course, there was salad.

Post script: I am trying to participate in @traciyork's November #HiveBloPoMo. I emphasise trying because the last two months have been exactly that - trying. There have been times that I've just been too exhausted and uninspired to post, let alone write something profound. That shouldn't stop you - or anyone. Read about how to participate here.

I've made it to day 17!

Until next time, be well

If this post might seem familiar, it's because I'm doing two things:

  • re-vamping old recipes. As I do this, I am adding them in a file format that you can download and print. If you download recipes, buy me a coffee. Or better yet, a glass of wine....?
  • and "re-capturing" nearly two years' worth of posts.
I blog to the Hive blockchain using a number of decentralised appplications.
  • From Wordpress, I use the Exxp Wordpress plugin. If this rocks your socks, click here or on on the image below to sign up.

  • lastly, graphics are created using partly my own photographs, images available freely available on @hive.blog and Canva.
