It wasn't a day for a walk after all

This morning we took Grogu to be neutered. We had been delaying the moment for some time since the vet told us to wait until he was 8 months old.

He turned 8 months old last November, but my son didn't want us to do it at that time and wanted us to wait to do it when he came home for Christmas. Then he came and time flew by, and we didn't do it.

But these days, my aunt told me that on Wednesdays in a vet clinic where she took her cats in the past, they have spay/neuter days on Wednesday mornings and it is less expensive than at the vet's office. So, taking advantage of the fact that hubby could take today off from work to go, we took him early this morning.

We arrived at the site, and there were several people with their cats. It was first come, first served. So we signed up, and as we had to wait at least an hour to be attended to, we went to have breakfast at a bakery near the site.

Grogu was a bit scared, but he behaved quite well. He hadn't left the house since the first few months when he was a little kitten and we didn't like to leave him alone, so we took him out a couple of times.

So after a coffee and a ham bread (cachito), we went back to the vet clinic.

A short stroll for Wednesday's walk

When our turn came, we delivered Grogu and were told to wait for him in a kind of park that was diagonal to the site. The clinic is small and they ask people to don't wait there to avoid crowds.

The place where we had to wait and which they referred to as a park, was more like an area with a basketball court, a small space with a few trees, and some roofed spaces where there was some old junk.

At the site, you could see that they kept a couple of street food carts. They were probably just stored there and use elsewhere, as I don't think that "park" get many visitors.

The site had nothing special. And to top it off, it was on the banks of the Guaire River, which crosses Caracas.

And the truth is that the Guaire riverbank is not pretty at all. The river is polluted. And there, it goes next to the highway.

But I still took some pictures during the long wait. Like this one of the dry leaves of the trees that covered a large part of the ground.

And this one of the clear blue sky and the building in front of the vet clinic.

We wait for hours since even though the procedure is fast, they don't let you take your cat until he wakes up.

And Grogu took a couple of hours to wake up. He came out of there still pretty doped up from the anesthesia. He barely could open his eyes.

But finally, they gave him to us, and we went back home. He spent the afternoon and the evening sleeping. From time to time, he tries to stand up, but he walks like a little drunkard. So we have been spoiling him even more than usual.

So today we took the step with Grogu to have him neutered.

And this is also my little attempt to join the #wednesdaywalk challenge hosted by @tattoodjay in collaboration with #makemesmile hosted by @elizacheng like every Wednesday.
