Géographie
Avant de vous parler de quelques curiosités de la région où j'habite actuellement, voici un petit point de géographie. On appelle ce canton "Le Perche" (ça tombe bien pour moi qui suis déjà très perchée). Ce canton est situé à l'ouest de Paris (1h30/2h00), dans le département de l'Eure et loir. C'est plutôt une région très agricole, beaucoup de villages dans la campagne, des forêts magnifiques. La capitale du département est Chartres et la capitale du canton Nogent le rotrou (eh oui pour tous les français qui passeront j'habite tout près de la tristitude d'Oldelaf ! 😂)
Before telling you about some of the sights of the region where I currently live, here is a little geography point. This canton is called "Le Perche" (it's a good thing for me as I'm already very perched). This canton is located west of Paris (1h30/2h00), in the Eure et loir department. It's a very agricultural region, many villages in the countryside, beautiful forests. The capital of the department is Chartres and the capital of the canton is Nogent le rotrou (yes, for all the French people who will pass by, I live very close to Oldelaf's tristitude!)
Je ne vais pas vous faire un cours sur le Perche qui est suffisamment mis en avant par notre présentateur TV amateur de monuments, par contre je souhaite vous faire découvrir des endroits qui m'ont attirée parce que soit ils avaient une histoire particulière ou encore constituaient des sites intéressants.
I am not going to give you a lecture on the Perche region, which is sufficiently highlighted by our TV presenter who loves monuments, but I would like to make you discover places that attracted me because they either had a particular history or were interesting.
Saint Jean Pierre Fixte un petit bourg bien curieux
Tout petit bourg insignifiant, aujourd'hui oublié et pourtant ! Autrefois les pèlerins s'y bousculaient car l'eau de sa fontaine a des vertus guérisseuses ! Elle aurait permis de guérir diverses maladies. Autre singularité du village, son nom Pierre Fixte qui viendrait du latin Petra fixa pierre debout en raison de la présence d'une pierre vénérée par les gaulois. Vous pensez bien que je m'y suis rendue ! Le bourg est plutôt désert, l'accès à la fontaine fermé par une grille qui n'est ouverte que lors de la Saint Jean mais on peut encore y ressentir l'histoire du lieu, imaginer les guerriers gaulois s'adonner à des rites paiens sur la grosse pierre, songer à ces files de personnes qui attendaient pleines d'espoir de boire l'eau de la fontaine. Passionnant non ?
A small and insignificant village, forgotten today, and yet! In the past, pilgrims used to flock there because the water from its fountain had healing properties! It would have allowed to cure various diseases. Another singularity of the village is its name Pierre Fixte which comes from the Latin Petra fixa standing stone because of the presence of a stone venerated by the Gauls. You can imagine that I went there! The village is rather deserted, the access to the fountain is closed by a gate which is only opened on Saint John's day but you can still feel the history of the place, imagine the Gallic warriors performing pagan rituals on the big stone, think of those lines of people who were waiting full of hope to drink the water from the fountain.Exciting, isn't it?
La pierre procureuse Saint Cyr la Rosière
Une autre particularité de ma région, les dolmens et les sites druidiques. Eh oui il n'y a pas qu'en Bretagne qu'on en trouve !
J'ai fait il y a quelques années la randonnée menant à la Pierre Procureuse.
Agé de plus de 3000 ans, ce dolmen aurait servi de sépulture collective et surtout il procurerait la santé à toute personne le touchant, exaucerait le voeu prononcé pendant qu'on a la main dessus. Selon la légende,il se soulèverait durant la nuit de Noël pour dévoiler son trésor et se replacerait vite fait si quelqu'un essaie de s'en saisir. Vous savez déjà ce que j'ai fait en arrivant devant non ? Bon j'avoue que je n'ai pas eu l'effet kiss cool de la potion d'astérix cependant cette ballade dans la forêt m'a permis de revenir chargée de bonnes vibes, on le sait les bois ont ce pouvoir de nous "nettoyer" et nous revitaliser, avec ou sans vieux dolmen druidique et il valait mieux avoir de l'énergie parce que je me suis trompée de chemin et j'ai dû faire quelques kilomètres de plus que prévu. Moralité : la pierre procureuse ne donne pas le sens de l'orientation 😂

A few years ago, I did the hike leading to the Pierre Procureuse.
More than 3000 years old, this dolmen would have been used as a collective burial place and above all it would have given health to any person touching it, would grant the wish pronounced while one has the hand on it. According to the legend, it would rise during the night of Christmas to reveal its treasure and would quickly fall back into place if someone tries to seize it. You already know what I did when I got there, don't you? Well, I admit that I didn't have the kiss cool effect of the Asterix potion, but this walk in the forest allowed me to come back loaded with good vibes, as we know, the woods have this power to "clean" and revitalize us, with or without an old druidic dolmen, and it was better to have energy because I took the wrong path and had to walk a few kilometers more than planned. Moral: the procuring stone does not give a sense of direction 😂
