Dear all, I think this past long Easter weekend is a good opportunity to post here again after a long time. As I've reported in previous years, Easter is always a big family celebration for us. The end of the "fasting period" is always marked by the Easter snack on Saturday, when the table is set full of delicious (cold) food.
Ich Lieben, ich denke dieses vergangene lange Oster Wochenende ist doch eine gute Gelegenheit, um hier nach langer Zeit mal wieder zu posten. Ostern ist, wie ich in den letzten Jahren schon berichtet hatte, bei uns ja immer ein großes Familienfest. Das Ende der "Fastenzeit" stellt dann immer die Osterjause am Samstag dar, an dem der Tisch voller lecker (kalter) Speisen gedeckt wird.
The centrepieces are, of course, hard-boiled Easter eggs, Easter ham and the traditionally sweet, light-coloured Easter bread. However, grated horseradish, mustard and pickled gherkins are also a must.
Im Mittelpunkt stehen dabei natürlich die hart gekochten Ostereier, Osterschinken und das hierzulande traditionell süße, helle Osterbrot. Nicht fehlen dürfen aber bei uns geriebener Kren (Meetreetich auf Deutsch), Senf und Essig Gurkerl.
On Easter Sunday we always have a grilled lamb, somehow my brother-in-law introduced this tradition years ago. I actually forgot to take photos of the laid table in the garden, around which a total of 19 people had gathered. At least there is one photo, from the very beginning, when the smell of charcoal and garlic lured me onto my balcony to have a look:
Am Ostersonntag gibt es dann bei uns immer ein gegrilltes Lamm, irgendwie hat mein Schwager diese Tradition vor Jahren eingeführt. Ich habe dann doch tatsächich vergessen, von der gedeckten Tafel im Garten Fotos zu machen, um die sich insgesamt 19 Personen versammelt hatten. Immerhin, ein Foto gibt es, ganz vom Anfang, als der Duft nach Grillkohle und Knoblauch mit auch meinen Balkon gelockt hatte um zu gucken:

So it was a wonderful weekend, even if I was very exhausted afterwards, because lots of people (as lovely as they are) in one place is exhausting for me.
There's not really anything new to report health-wise. I'm actually doing well, except for the fact that I get exhausted very quickly and can never concentrate for long. There are good days, then there are days when I just want to sleep and conventional medicine isn't much help in this respect either. They only ever focus on the tumour and somehow overlook the fact that maybe it's not always about the quantity of life, but also the quality of life? Anyway, I just try to make the best of it and focus on the things that bring me joy, such as music:
Es war also wirklich ein sehr schönes Wochenende, auch wenn ich dann sehr geschafft war, weil viele Menschen (so lieb sie auch sind) auf einem Haufen ist doch anstrengend für mich.
Gesundheitlich gibt es nicht wirklich etwas Neues zu berichten. Es geht mir eigentlich gut, bis auf den Umstand dass ich sehr schnell erschöpft bin und mich auch nie lange konzentrieren kann. Es gibt gute Tage, dann gibt es wieder welche wo ich am liebsten nur schlafen mag und die Schulmedizin ist in dieser Hinsicht auch nicht gerade eine große Hilfe. Die haben immer nur den Tumor im Blick und übersehen dabei irgendwie, dass es vielleicht nicht immer um Lebens-Quantität, sondern auch um Lebens-Qualität geht? Wie auch immer, versuche ich einfach das beste daraus zu machen und mich auf die Dinge zu fokussieren, die mir Freude bereiten, so zum Beispiel die Musik:
Now that I only use my computer rarely and for short periods of time and I can't get to grips with streaming via my mobile phone, I was looking for an alternative to finally be able to listen to my music again.
The old iPod still works, but I haven't managed to install new music on it.
Nachdem meine Computer nur noch selten an ist und ich mich mit Streaming übers Handy nicht anfreunden kann, war ich auf einer Suche nach einer Alternative um endlich wieder meine Musik hören zu können.
Der alte Ipod funktioniet zwar noch, aber ich habe es nicht geschafft neue Musik darauf zu installieren.
So for Easter I got myself this small, simple and inexpensive MP3 player and I can tell you, I am SO happy with it and really enjoy having almost all my music ready to play.
Also habe ich mir zu Ostern diesen kleinen, einfachen und preiswerten MP3 Player geschenkt und ich kann euch sagen, ich bin SO happy damit und genieße es sehr fast all meine Musik abspielbereit zu haben.
There's not much to report from the garden yet, except that the very old peartree is currently in wonderful bloom.

Im Garten gibt es noch nicht viel zu berichten außer, dass der uralte Birnenbaum zurzeit in wundervoller Blütenpracht steht.
