Children growing up and parents growing older

The one very prominent commonality all parents have in common is a busy hectic fast paced life. The days are full of action; preparing meals, household chores, work commitments, school drops and pick ups, after school and weekend sports and cultural activities etc.

From sunrise to bedtime parents not only look after their children's educational and physical needs but also teach them right from wrong, caring for others, love, resilience, getting on with others, another long list. And at all times they watch, talk, and check in with their kids.

When kids grow up parents are usually surprised at how fast the years have flown by, their kids have graduated from school turning into grown up adults, while parents have grown older, transforming into #silverbloggers.

It is not as if we begrudge being #silverbloggers, it is in fact wonderfully free and fancy. We now become number one as we sit on the outside of our adult children's lives, still watching, talking, connecting and always loving them undconditionaly no matter what.

The good thing is that a parent and child's love continues on as strongly into adulthood years. That is the beauty of love, it is a feeling inside of us that is hard to describe and quantify but nonetheless deep and enduring. It is an emotion that parents effectively model to their children and teach their children using many different modalities like songs and books. We just have to remember to say 'I love you.' At least don't let it go unsaid.

A Father of the Bride speech at a wedding celebration is an ideal declaration of love from a dad to a grown up daughter.

I love you forever
I like you for always
As long as I'm living my child you'll be.

May I always feel the love flowers give so freely,
many colourful petals of different shapes and sizes,
providing joy at the of each day completely.
