Possum Wood, ‘Sandbox Tree’ is a very large tree in the spurge family of 'Euphorbiaceae' & native through out most of tropical America. The sandbox tree is ranking among the largest trees of tropical America & is interesting mostly for its pumpkin-shaped seed capsules which explode with a loud report scattering the seeds across.
It grows very tall in its native own environment. Any one can easily recognize the tree by its cool gray bark covered with cone-shaped spikes that makes it exceptional which has distinctly different male and female flowers during blooming.
