Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for wednesday the 7th day of February, 2024. The Super Eagles of Nigeria are in the final of AFCON! Gentlemen, after a pulsating encounter with the Bafana Bafana of South Africa which saw the game standing at (1-1) even after extra time. The winner had to be decided via penalty shootout.
Ronwen Williams, the Bafana Bafana captain could not repeat his heroics of saving penalty kicks as his side lost (4-2) to Nigeria.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will now face host Ivory Coast on sunday in the final. The Ivorians defeated DR Congo (1-0) later in the day to also book their place in the final.
On Saturday, South Africa will play DR Congo in the third place match.

Larry begins his look at today in history from the USA. He finds out that on this day in 2013, Mississippi became the last state in the United States to formally abolish slavery; it ratified the Thirteenth Amendment in 1995 but failed to submit the necessary paperwork.
From the USA, Larry goes to Jordan. He finds out that on this day in 1999, Abdullah II became King of Jordan just hours after his father, Hussein, passed away.
From Jordan, Larry goes to Haiti. He finds out that on this day in 1986, following political instability, Haitian President Jean-Claude Duvalier escaped to France with the support of the United States.
From Haiti, Larry goes to Grenada. He finds out that on this day in 1974, Grenada gained her independence from the United Kingdom.
From Grenada, Larry goes to Russia. He finds out that on this day in 1613, Michael Romanov, the Romanov dynasty's founder, became tsar of Russia.
Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from England. He finds out that on this day in 1812, Charles Dickens, an English novelist, often regarded as the finest of the Victorian era, was born in Portsmouth, Hampshire, England. His numerous books include A Christmas Carol, David Copperfield, Bleak House, A Tale of Two Cities, Great Expectations, and Our Mutual Friend.
Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
