Larry Is Alive #250 January 24, 2024: I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for tuesday the 24th day of January, 2024. Black Stars of Ghana head coach, Chris Hughton has been relieved of his duties. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced this following the inability of the national team, the Black Stars from advancing to the knockout stages in the ongoing AFCON. Ghana collected two points from 3 matches and this was not good enough to push them to the next round.

Another big casualty is Algeria who has also crashed out of the competition following their (0-1) to Mauritania last night. More games are also billed for today. When those games are concluded more teams will be eliminated from the competition. Currently, two games going on, namely: Namibia vs Mali, South Africa vs Tunisia and they goalless.

Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from China. He finds out that on this day in 1556, an earthquake struck Shensi (Shaanxi) province in China, killing 830,000 people.

From China, Larry goes to England. He finds out that on this day in 1908, the first Boy Scout group was formed by Lieutenant General Robert Baden-Powell in England.

From England, Larry goes to the world of technology. He finds out that on this day in 1984, Steve Jobs unveiled Apple's revolutionary computer Macintosh two days after the landmark commercial "1984" aired in front of a national television audience, announcing the product's upcoming release.

From the world of technology, Larry goes to the USA. He finds out that on this day in 2003, The United States Department of Homeland Security was established as Tom Ridge was sworn in as its first secretary.

From the USA, Larry goes to the world of space exploration. He finds out that on this day in 2004, launched in mid-2003, the six-wheeled robotic rover Opportunity landed on Mars and, like its twin rover, Spirit, which landed on January 3, analysed rocks and soils and sent images back to Earth.

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from Italy. He finds out that on this day in 2003, Giovanni Agnelli who served as chairman of Fiat SpA, the largest private company in Italy and manufacturer of automobiles, from 1966 to 2003, died in Turin, Italy.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
