Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for friday, the 17th day of November, 2023. Thank God it's friday, yay! Its been a hectic week for Larry as he recounts how he has dispatched most dof his parcels prior to today. He is already in the weekend mood. And before he begins he daily routine, Larry turns his attention to have a look at today in #history.
Larry begins his look at today in history from the USA. He finds out that on this day in 2003, Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger, an Austrian-born American bodybuilder and film actor, was inaugurated as governor of California, following a recall election that outsted the sitting governor.
From the USA, Larry goes to the world of swimming. He finds out that on this day in 1950, Roland Matthes, a German athlete and one of the greatest backstrokers in swimming history, was born in East Germany.
From the world of swimming, Larry goes to the events of WWII. He finds out that on this day in 1887, Field Marshal Bernard Law Montgomery, one of the most famous Allied commanders during World War II, was born in London.
From the events of the WWII, Larry goes to the world of canals. He finds out that on this day in 1869, the Suez Canal in Egypt opens after ten years of construction.
Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today from the world of football. He finds out that on this day in 2006, Ferenc Puskás, a Hungarian professional football (soccer) player who was the sport's first international superstar was born in Budapest, Hungary.
Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
