Larry begins his look at today in history from Israel. He finds out that on this day in 1948, just before the end of the British mandate in Palestine, David Ben-Gurion and the Jewish People's Council declared the State of Israel, sparking the first Arab-Israeli conflict.
From Israel, Larry goes to the USA. He finds out that on this day in 1984, Mark Zuckerberg, an American computer programmer and co-founder of the social networking website Facebook, was born in White Plains, New York, U.S.A.
From USA, Larry goes to the world of space exploration. He finds out that on this day in 1973, Skylab, the first United States space station, was launched.
From the world of space exploration, Larry goes to the world of human health. He finds out that on this day in 1796, Edward Jenner administered the first smallpox vaccine.
From the world of human health, Larry goes to France. He finds out that on this day in 1643, Louis XIV, four years old, ascended the French crown.
Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from Croatia. He finds out that on this day in 1922, Franjo Tudjman, a Croat politician who spearheaded the country's independence from Yugoslavia in 1991 and served as President until his death in Veliko Trgovisce, Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes [now Croatia].
Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
