Have a blessed week, friends of Hive Open Mic! Today I present to you my entry for week 58 of this respectable contest. Apropos of the Memory theme, proposed by @arunimabiju, there is a band that brings back many memories of my childhood every time I listen to their wonderful songs, that band is the Spanish group Mecano. I remember that, at home we used to listen to the recordings of the band, because it was one of our favorites.
Cruz de Navajas (Cross of knives), composed by José María Cano, was the second single of the album "Entre el cielo y el suelo" from 1986. I hope you like my interpretation, which I accompanied with acoustic guitar and congas.
A unos novios comiéndose a besos
Roban y matan a Mario Postigo
Cross of Knives
But Mario doesn't leave until six o'clock
And if, on top of that, he has to work in the cash register, say goodbye to him.
It's almost always daylight
She's done the house, she's even made coffee
And waits for him half naked
He wants bed but another variety
And Maria wets her desires in the coffee
Cupcakes of the convex sex
When she comes back there's nothing but a sleepy girl
Taciturn to be used in shifts
Deadly gleams shine at dawn
Bloods that dye the dawn red
Mario returns at ten to five
On his empty street in the distance he can only see
A couple kissing each other
When he comes closer to discover
That it's Maria with company
Deadly gleams shine at dawn
Bloods that dye the dawn red
One on the forehead, the one that hurt the most
Another on his chest, the one that killed him
And another one lies in the newscast
rob and kill Mario Postigo
While his wife is a witness from the doorway
Deadly gleams shine at dawn
Bloods that dye the dawn red
