Hive Open Mic week 57, The Cuckoo by Louis-Claude Daquin

It is Saturday, the week went so fast and we are already reaching the last day to submit the entries for Hive Open Mic week 57. The theme for this week is Optimism, chosen by a recent spotlight artist, @lecumberre. I think that it is really good to have those topics as a starting point of our inspiration and to bring music around the same theme.

Talking in general, optimism means expecting the best possible outcome from a certain situation. It is having the mental attitude that the outcome will be desirable and positive. But sometimes the circumstances do not prove and give that, but even then, an optimistic person stays with the belief that next time it will play out differently. Are we then optimistic? Do we always have this attitude?

Of course, it also depends on our previous experience, biological predisposition and the circumstances we are living in. And if we have difficult times, we should create for ourselves the oasis of our optimism. Make things that give us pleasure and help us charge with positive energy. One of the activities that make me more positive is being outside, somewhere in nature. Listening to the chirping of birds, inhaling fresh air and collecting energy from the sun’s rays.

That is what happened also a few weeks ago when we spent an afternoon in the mountains. The cover photo is taken there. While we were hiking, we listened to the birds all the time. I don't know exactly what species of birds we could hear, there were certainly many different ones in this forest. Since that chirping of birds gave me such a nice feeling of optimism, I prepared a composition called Cuckoo for this week (le Coucou in French). The composer is Louis-Claude Daquin, a French baroque composer. The piece is written in form of a rondo, which means that there is one (the beginning) part that will appear over and over again, between each different part. You can hear that virtuosity is required and the fast passages do sometimes made me have some slips. Despite them, I hope you will enjoy this fast piece which brings the singing of cuckoo with its motifs.

Greetings to all who peeked into this post.
