Hive Open Mic #63: Storyteller - Poison and Wine

We had no idea that we were going to do this today!

But it was SO much fun singing with my boy! He has become such an amazing musician - teaching himself how to play guitar and learning harmony too :)

It's one of our favorite things - singing in harmony to songs that he's learned. My daughter sings too but - she is very very shy around the camera ... why? I'll never know! She's got a fabulous voice!!

But we'll get her on here soon! hahaha

For the Storyteller theme this week, we are singing The Civil Wars' "Poison and Wine". This song tells the story of a couple that has fallen out of love, but still can't stop loving one another.

They have built walls over the years, mostly from pain and hurt - but still can't help but love deeply for one another. One of those "Can't live with you, but can't live without you" type of songs.

This is the FIRST song that I ever heard from The Civil Wars. It's hauntingly beautiful. We can't compare to the original - but it's one of our favorite songs! So we hope you enjoy it!

P.S. It adds to the sadness of the song that the Civil Wars separated a few years ago. I had the privilege of seeing them live in concert twice, and it was absolutely surreal. The way that their voices intertwined was like magic. They held the entire audience captivated. You couldn't even hear a breath - for fear that we would miss a note! It's one of my greatest wishes that they would get back together to treat us all to their music again - but - until then, thank God for their recordings!

Thanks for listening! (oh - and of course - any profits from this post will be split between my son and I! hehehe)
