Last week's Hive Open Mic event invitation was "Death," and so today's recap explores this subject. How does music invite us to comprehend death? How does music enable us to live life more tenderly, knowing that death could arrive at any time. To me, music is the medicine for all that ails us, including the fears of death. Let's listen.

The artist formerly known as @jubei333 is reborn as @celticheartbeat. I dig this new account name and the presence he's bringing here. Proud of him for carrying the long-celebrated Irish folk songs as a torch for today, and I'm grateful for the introduction to so many gems. This song is particularly beautiful. Nice guitar work, and pleasant singing, along with a captivating music video presentation. Loving it.

Samauma (Original) by @cabelindsay
Samaúma is the name of the largest tree in the Amazon rainforest, with a lifespan upwards of 2,000 years. This song asks the Samaúma tree to help me to remember and forgive myself and all of humanity for the death of Jesus, ~2,000 years ago. Naturally, Jesus' life and death stories are the inspiration of many songs, including this one.
Appreciation
Hive Open Mic showcases Hive's gifted and talented musicians. I honor these artists for expressing themselves in a way that creates connection. To me, we all benefit through the camaraderie between musicians and music fans, sharing a musical vibration. Please join me in extending our gratitude through claps, finger snaps, and tips to individual musicians.
Inspiration
Sir Paul McCartney brings us "Live and Let Die." My first introduction to this song was through the lens of Axl Rose and Slash, who put their Guns 'n' Roses spin on it. But this is the superlative rendition of this song, in my opinion. I enjoy seeing and hearing how the music legends present themselves on stage. Here's The Beatle being a bright and shiny star in 1976.

I am grateful for the various ways this event stretches me as a music maker and a generous listener. I enjoy the surprises, discovering songs that inspire me. I get the impression we're all making progress, sharing our art with the world, making positive impressions and steady steps toward global harmony.
