Hello everyone and welcome to my blog at this hour. Heavy rainfall has been a constant occurrence for quite a number of weeks and it has been having negative effects on some places in the state and the major cause could be linked to lack of well structured drainage system among others. Well sit back, relax and enjoy all that I have packaged for your reading pleasure.
It was sad to see in the dailies that about 6 people were reportedly dead and lot of buildings and cars were destroyed as a result of non-stop rainfall. These buildings were flooded and probably caught these people unawares and it was too late for them to find an escape route.
These floods that lead to loss of lives and properties is mostly caused by so many factors and the prominent one is lack of drainage system. Most suburbs do not have a plan, people build their houses without following a particular structure and this make some set of people build their houses on the channels that is meant to be for water to pass through.
One other reasons flood destroy lives and properties is when waste products are dumped on water channels. Some streets and neighborhoods have a good drainage system but some set of people dispose their trash on the drainage and this does not give room for flood to flow freely thereby forcefully creating a route for itself which could direct it into people's houses.
The effect of these lack of good drainage system causes more harm than good to the community and another pronounced one apart from the loss of lives and property is that it leads to erosion/bad roads.
