"The River of Stars Part 20"
I created this cut paper art, background, and translated the story. This scene is the last scene for this story. Therion is leaving this dimension with Kekouani. The river is connected to the sky. The sky is connected to the universe. The universe is connected to our Home. When I was drawing this river background picture, I couldn't draw the dimensional flow at first. Finally, I saw the actual image of Terion and Kekouani walking towards the river.
The right side of the background also took a long time to become this color. Firstly, this painting was very blight green but when I changed it to black and turned it sideways, it was complete. The rainbow-looking spiral ring looks like Therion and Kekouani's soul's path.
Have you ever heard about "Sanzu River" before? Literally, "River of Three Crossings" in English.
The Sanzu-no-Kawa (三途の川, lit. "River of Three Crossings", or the "Sanzu River") is a mythological river in Japanese Buddhist tradition similar to the Hindu concept of the Vaitarna and Greek concept of the Styx.[1]
Before reaching the afterlife, the souls of the deceased must cross the river by one of three crossing points: a bridge, a ford, or a stretch of deep, snake-infested waters.[2] The weight of one's offenses while alive determines which path an individual must take. It is believed that a toll of six mon must be paid before a soul can cross the river, a belief reflected in Japanese funerals when the necessary fee is placed in the casket with the dead.
I didn't mean to scare you but I noticed that when I was struggling to draw the river image for the background, I totally forgot to connect to the "Sanzu River" concept. Many cultures describe that the river and human lives are connected. After I completed this painting and placed the Therion and Kekouani cut paper art, I remembered the concept of "Sanzu River" and thought, "Ah-ha, I was trying to draw the Sanzu River!!" The artwork is very interesting. We even don't know what we are drawing sometimes until we get the real meanings or concepts. I will share some book cover images for this story soon.
"星の川 パート２０”
切り絵と背景を作成し、物語を翻訳をしました。これは物語の最後のシーンです。セリオンはケコウアニと一緒にこの世を旅立ちます。川は空とつながっています。空は宇宙とつながっています。宇宙はわれわれの故郷へとつながっています。 背景を描き始めた当初は、次元の流れを思うように描き表すことができませんでした。やっとセリオンとケコウアニが川へ向かって歩いて行く様子がイメージできました。
右側の背景もこの色合いになるまでに時間がかかりました。初めは明るい緑色の背景でしたが、黒に変えて絵を横むきにした時に完成しました。虹色の螺旋状の輪はセリオンとケコウアニの魂の道に見えます。
三途の川についてご存じのかたは多いと思います。
三途川（さんずのかわ、さんずがわ）は、此岸（現世）と彼岸（あの世）を分ける境目にあるとされる川。三途は仏典に由来し、餓鬼道・畜生道・地獄道を意味する。ただし、彼岸への渡川・渡航はオリエント起源の神話宗教[1]からギリシア神話[2]にまで広く見られるものであり、三途川の伝承には民間信仰が多分に混じっている。
怖い話をしてみなさんをおどろかせようとしているわけではありません。この背景を試行錯誤しながら描いているとき、すっかり三途の川の概念を忘れていました。あらゆる国の文化では、川と人間の人生はつながっていると説明されていることが多いと思います。背景を描き終えて、セリオンとケコウアニの切り絵を配置したときに、「あー、なるほど、これは三途の川だったんだ！」と気がつきました。アート作品は面白いですね。時々何をなんのために書いているのか、実際の意味や概念がやってくるまでわからないことがよくあります。次回は物語のの裏表紙など挿絵を投稿する予定です。
