Dejando un poco a un lado todo el acontecer de las grandes ligas, no podemos pasar por alto que se aproxima un nuevo comienzo de la temporada de béisbol profesional en Venezuela (LVBP) y con ello un acontecimiento que dio lugar en el Estado Aragua, específicamente en el seno del conjunto de los Tigres de Aragua, y es que esta novena ha retirado los números en sus camisetas de su equipo, de dos grandes baluartes, que durante la década de los años 90’ brillaron en el béisbol venezolano con los bengalíes, Richard Garces y Roberto Zambrano no solo destacaron con el conjunto Aragüeño si no que ayudaron a otras novenas en calidad de refuerzo a conseguir grandes logros dentro del circuito local.

Los años 90’ no fueron de los mejores para los Tigres de Aragua, en un periodo donde el dominio fue de otros equipos como Los Navegantes del Magallanes y Cardenales de Lara y no hubo cabida para la tropa felina, pero eso no fue impedimento para que dentro de sus filas destacaran ciertos jugadores que a la postre irían a ser insignias de esta divisa.

Digo esto, porque el torneo local consta de solo tres meses de competencia, antes de entrar a su fase post-temporada o round robin en el mes de enero, razón por el cual se traduce en algo exigente, debido a que tienes poco tiempo para colocarte a todo y rendir al máximo nivel, para ayudar a tu equipo a clasificar con un margen de victorias y derrotas en la tabla de posiciones acorde a la circunstancia en donde debes rendir o te quedas por fuera, y luego disputar la fase final del campeonato.

Otro jugador que salió a relucir en medios de esas exigencias de nuestro torneo local en esa época fue Roberto Zambrano, el segundo de tres hermanos activos en el béisbol profesional venezolano, hermano de Eduardo y Jose Luis Zambrano, entra en acción con el equipo triguero, como uno de los mejores productores del equipo, su poderoso bate lleva a que en sus números, en su mayoría, fueran siempre considerados al del premio jugador más valioso en cada temporada.
