I have recently been attacked by downvotes on Hive by posting that I am studying Chinese (Mandarim to be more specific). Yes, it is that ridiculous, I have got haters for learning a language.
I use Chinese every weekend to talk to some Taiwanese friends at a restaurant they own, and I want to get better at speaking their language. I only speak with them for a few minutes since they are busy, but it is a language I like.
It is difficult to study Chinese but it is rewarding. Everyone I know that speaks Chinese also speaks Spanish, Portuguese or English, so I don’t need to study it, I do because I like it.
