The Glarus Of Nessebar

Greetings, friends!

A couple of days ago I mentioned a place. The Old Town of Nessebar. I did promise to show more of my latest photo round there, and soon, but before that, I am bound by honor to present to you...

The true lords of the town. The indigenous rulers. The Glarus, as we call them. That aggressive and always hungry big kind of gulls.

All twenty-one photographs in this series were taken with the same 70-200 mm F 4 lens and within the same week.

Around here, it's a symbol. In other places they say Macho. We say Glarus.

It's also the brand of a local craft beer.

And there's a street named Glarus in Nessebar. Actually, I learned about it from a cartoon called Bulgar, that's pretty funny when in our language. The doubling in English, though...is absolutely not the same thing. Sorry. Can't do anything about that.

The Glarus is an apex dude. Nothing eats it in Nature. That's probably part of the reason for the notion of its own supremacy and the habit to be as annoying as an animal would go.

If you mess with it, it will eat you up and spit you out...Or your food at least. Be mindful of your breakfast even when it's still in your hands.

Well, these two shots were with its own catch. Which does not mean your breakfast is safe.

Actually, nobody is safe in a town where the Glarus own it all...

They own Restaurant...

Guess who brought the figs to Nessebar. I don't know, actually, but I would guess it was a choking Glarus.

Architectural Heritage...Owned.

...Don't even think about them. Closely watched.

Honestly, I think the only thing that stands between The Glarus and total domination of the region...are a few brave Cormorants. Standing their holy ground.

Peaceful rejection of the would-be usurper.

Those two are like Ying and Yang.

Balancing each other out.

Otherwise...what hopes would Humans have to settle there?

Thanks for joining me this round!

Take care and see you soon!

Yours,

Manol
