So a few snaps taken from the village, Over the course of 5 hours, I took over 200 snaps, I am breaking this village down into manageable chunks dear readers.
Historical stuff
As early as 1909, a peat industry had been operational in the locality, in 1936 The Communist regime, formed, under the name of The National Peat Industry and the industry grew and became mechanised.
As a result an industrial village was born: Rabasaare.
By the summer of 1937, 10 dormitories, and one dwelling for workers with 12 apartments had been built.
65 of these workers were permanently resident here, whilst circa 600 were transient seasonal workers.
This was communist Russia, you are here to work, don’t expect this to be a fairytale living off the land existence.
