Travel with LightCaptured, 35 pieces of dark-hours-Reykjavik

Here is the thing. If I ever get in this imaginable scenario where I get one chance to relocate to another European country, for me, that would no doubt be Iceland.

Does this sound strange or even weird for you? I bet it does, at least a little. Apart from the obvious advantage of being one of the countries with the most beautiful nature, it has other significant pros as well.

For instance, as far as I know, that's the only country without mosquitoes! Ha! :))) I also love the fact that its population is less than a half of million people. For example, Bulgaria has about the same area but the population is about 7 million people.

Another side that really impressed me was I was able to pay with a card everywhere. Even at the most distant and wild looking places, far away from any city or town. Actually, I didn't see the local banknotes nor coins, not at all.

It all felt modern and yet, wild and so close to the Nature.

What I absolutely fell in love with, was the creativity of the local people.

Probably that's the nation that preserved in the best way the legacy of the Vikings. And I could see parts of that around. Of course, Reykjavik, the capital city of Iceland, is the brightest gem in this crown, if I can say that...

So let me share those 35 visual pieces with you now...

Probably the most impressive building here is the cathedral. I haven't seen such religious building anywhere else in the world!

However, let me start the night in a chronological order now.

That glorious and unforgettable night started with a breathtaking sunset at the lighthouse of the city:

It was a high-tide so the road to the lighthouse was under water. However I took maybe more than 50 pictures here. So scenery and amazingly beautiful.

To walk the city streets felt great. Busy but not too busy or overcrowded.

Trees, covered with small lights. Pure magic.

A myriad of small shops. Their fronts, presented with so much creativity.

Jars as lamps and hand-made items for sell on a simple wooden plank.

Veggies shop just between art shop and shoe shop ;)

Each pair of shoes on a pedestal, right?

The famous puffins, toys.

"Meze" in my language means "appetizer, relish". I suspect the word has either Persian or Turkish origin. Lovely name for a restaurant, right?

Who doesn't love chocolate? I adore it!

Clothes store but you may find it hard to tell. So creative, once again!

Wow graffiti. More likely art installation. What does it tells about the owner, in your opinion?

Another fashion store, boots and coats. "Ravens"

... dark and beautiful...

Another gem :) Shop for sunglasses and pantihose :) Attractive, isn't it?

Toys and souvenirs shop. Awesome name, "Islandia".

Many of the public buildings in the city are lighted very well in the night.

A restaurant we checked but didn't quite liked the prices, lol.

The place we actually had our dinner, served local dishes and live music. Awesome time spent. Thank you for the music, people :)

Next, more walk on the streets and more art.

Other shops too, I was photographing only the most impressive ones.

I loved the concept of that fuzzy chair:

Another shop and I really can't tell what those items are.

These, I recognize. Eye-balls!!!

More fashion, more coziness.

Now, check out these sweet monsters. I wanted one!

Hand made by the daughter of Astpors, who named her Alma Bjork, as far as I can read the plate.

Finally, a photographic store! You know me well, I made a few more photos here, I promise I'll share them, some time in the future, maybe! :P

Do you like that impression of mine?

Just a window of a home. Again, very creative, in my humble opinion.

Another impression of the cathedral with some homes in the foreground.

Here, someone was just having a dinner in their kitchen.

Windows could tell so many stories, don't you think?

I hope you've enjoyed these perspectives of night Reykjavik!
