Worshiping the big boys

Although it's considered to be distasteful to suck up to Hive whales in order to get upvotes, as things stand right now your content needs to be somewhat appreciated by the people behind the big accounts or by the curators. And that crowd is kind of limited at the moment, I mean if you add up the whales and orcas together you would get under 300 accounts according to the numbers provided in this post. You could basically get to know every one of those people if you put your mind to it. So budding up to a cool whale can make things much easier, and it's human nature to take the path of least resistance, unless your content is so incredibly awesome and stands out so much that votes come flying in left right and center. But creators of that caliber rarely bother with some almost unknown blockchain social platform.

Not saying having a few hundred people hold a lot of the Hive power is a bad thing necessarily but if you fall out with the wrong crowd things can get pretty difficult if you plan on earning something, so in that sense there is a sort of oligarchical power structure. That has always been something people have criticized about Hive, especially those that look at it from the outside.

Maybe a system where the most deserving plebs ( minnows and redfish ) could qualify for some nice prizes in Hiver power like once a year, and I'm not talking any kind of Hive power, I'm thinking more along the lines of something you couldn't power down for a long period ( 5 years for example ). The Hive power could be put aside from the reward pool. I'm not saying my idea would cure cancer and bring in world wide peace but with a bit of polish I think it ( or something similar ) could help speed up the process of spreading the wealth and power to more users.

Curious if my little "socialist" idea will get shot down faster than a biplane in world word II, but you never know, might give someone with more skills and influence an even better idea :)
