Hola amigos! ¿Qué tal? Esta semana el reto de maquillaje en la comunidad de Makeup Power tiene por tema la Ecología. Es un tema que me ha interesado desde pequeña. En el colegio participé en un concurso en el que tenía que presentar una problemática ambiental y posibles soluciones. Me di cuenta que en el parque principal de mi ciudad los bebederos estaban dañados, y goteaban día y noche. Realicé toda una exposición y también un cuento titulado "gota a gota el agua de agota". Sin duda fue una experiencia que me hizo tomar consciencia sobre el asunto.
Hello friends! How are you? This week's makeup challenge in the Makeup Power community has as its theme Ecology. It is a topic that has interested me since I was a child. At school I participated in a contest in which I had to present an environmental problem and possible solutions. I noticed that in the main park of my town the drinking fountains were damaged, and they were leaking day and night. I made a whole exhibition and also a story entitled "drop by drop the water runs out". Without a doubt it was an experience that made me become aware of the issue.
Actualmente me preocupa la cultura consumista del maquillaje. Hay miles de productos en el mercado, y quizás podamos sentir la necesidad de tenerlo todo o de actualizar o ampliar nuestros repertorio de productos de forma constante. El resultado de eso es que lamentablemente creamos más basura. Otra situación que me preocupa en la industria del maquillaje son los procesos, pues algunos productos siguen siendo testeados en animales. Sé que en nuestro país es difícil tener control sobre esto y saber con seguridad qué tipo de productos estamos utilizando, pero no está de más revisar las etiquetas antes de comprar, y así tomar responsabilidad sobre nuestro impacto en el medio ambiente.
Currently I am concerned about the consumer culture of makeup. There are thousands of products on the market, and perhaps we can feel the need to have it all or to constantly update or expand our repertoire of products. The result of that is that we unfortunately create more garbage. Another situation that worries me in the makeup industry is the processes, because some products are still tested on animals. I know that in our country it is difficult to have control over this and know for sure what kind of products we are using, but it is not superfluous to check the labels before buying, and thus take responsibility for our impact on the environment.
Una acción pequeña pero útil que podemos hacer desde nuestro actuar es reducir al máximo el número de toallitas húmedas y algodones. Sé que las toallitas desmaquillantes son súper útiles pero generan cantidades y cantidades de basura. Todo esto lo aprendí viendo al youtuber de habla inglesa Hyram. Él es experto en Skincare y hasta ahora es el único que he visto en youtube que habla sobre la consciencia ambiental y su relación con el makeup y skincare, se los recomiendo!
A small but useful action we can do from our actions is to reduce the number of wet wipes and cotton to the maximum. I know that wipes are super useful but they generate lots and lots of garbage. I learned all this from watching the English-speaking youtuber Hyram. He is an expert on Skincare and so far he is the only one I have seen on youtube that talks about environmental awareness and its relationship to makeup and skincare, I recommend him!
Ahora bien, antes de contarles cómo hice mi makeup, quiero hablarles un poco del concepto que tenía en mente. Quería representar en mi rostro a la madre naturaleza, su verdor, y también el efecto de los procesos industriales y la polución sobre ella. También quería dar un mensaje visual, que se vea a simple vista, y pensé en las palabras "reduce, reutiliza y recicla".
Now, before telling you how I did my makeup, I want to talk a little about the concept I had in mind. I wanted to represent in my face Mother Nature, her greenery, and also the effect of industrial processes and pollution on her. I also wanted to give a visual message, which can be seen with the naked eye, and I thought about the words "reduce, reuse and recycle".
No tomé muchas fotos del proceso pues estaba algo ajustada con el tiempo, ya que tenía otro compromiso, sin embargo, intentaré explicarles el maquillaje lo más detallado posible. Comencé como siempre, aplicando una crema hidratante en todo mi rostro, y una vez que esta secó, me apliqué una base ligera. Coloqué corrector en mis ojeras y párpados para que las sombras pigmentaran mejor, y sellé todo con polvo. Quería que mis ojos se vieran precisos (lo más preciso que pudiera) y no tan difuminados. Para ello, apliqué una sombra verde oscuro en toda la cuenca (sin difuminar hacia arriba), y una sombra verde claro en el párpado inferior, además en las esquinas de los ojos coloqué una sombra con una tonalidad entre verde y azul oscuro. Más adelante realicé un delineado largo en mis ojos, porque sentí que hacía falta.
I didn't take many pictures of the process as it was somewhat adjusted over time, since I had another commitment, however, I will try to explain the makeup as detailed as possible. I started as usual, applying a moisturizer all over my face, and once it was dry, I applied a light foundation. I applied concealer to my under-eye circles and eyelids to make the shadows pigmented better, and sealed everything up with powder. I wanted my eyes to look precise (as precise as possible) and not so blurry. To do this, I applied a dark green shadow in the whole eye socket (without blurring upwards), and a light green shadow on the lower eyelid, and in the corners of the eyes I placed a shade between green and dark blue. Later on I made a long eyeliner on my eyes, because I felt it was needed.
Ahora sí, la parte más divertida del maquillaje. Realicé mis cejas con tempera verde, dibujando pinceladas hacia arriba. Y con la misma tempera, coloqué verde en el lado izquierdo de mi cara y en todo mi cuello. Con un delineador verde líquido y brillante, dibujé dos pequeñas lágrimas en mi mejilla izquierda. Con un delineador líquido negro dibujé ramas en las zonas verdes, y agregué detalles con tempera amarilla. En el lado derecho de mi cara apliqué tempera negra, simulando la polución, y dibujé nubes con temperas blanca y negra.
Now, the funniest part of the makeup. I made my eyebrows with green tempera, drawing brushstrokes upwards. And with the same tempera, I put green on the left side of my face and all over my neck. With liquid green and shiny eyeliner, I drew two small tears on my left cheek. With black liquid eyeliner I drew branches in the green areas, and added details with yellow tempera. On the right side of my face I applied black tempera, simulating pollution, and drew clouds with black and white tempera.
En mi pecho quise hacer una especie de letrero amarillo, que enmarqué con cinta adhesiva decorativa y coloqué las 3 palabras básicas asociadas a la ecología "Reduce, Reuse, Reciclye". Para ello utilicé un delineador líquido negro, y el espejo, para guiarme en la escritura. Terminé el maquillaje aplicando de forma cuidadosa una sombra negra en mis labios, sin embargo, no me gustó mucho el resultado tan limpio y cuidado, por lo que decidí difuminar esta sombra hacia el lado izquierdo de mi cara. Sobre los labios, apliqué gloss y listo!
On my chest I wanted to make a kind of yellow sign, which I framed with decorative tape and placed the 3 basic words associated with ecology "Reduce, Reuse, Reciclye". I used a black liquid eyeliner, and the mirror, to guide me in the writing. I finished the makeup by carefully applying a black shadow on my lips, however, I did not like the result so clean and careful, so I decided to blur this shadow to the left side of my face. On the lips, I applied gloss and that was it!
