Why is LGBT Pride Month celebrated in June?
.

Let's start by saying what these four letters stand for: LGBT: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Transsexual. And although nowadays the letters I (Intersex), T (Transsexual, Transvestite and Transgender), Q (Queer) and A (Asexual) have been added, in the world the LGBT community is referred to as the LGBT community.

We have to go back in time to the 1950s and 1960s in the United States, years in which American society had diverse groups confronting the authorities, from the hippie movement, the struggle for the rights of the black community and the homosexual community to the groups against the Vietnam War.

The Greenwich Village neighborhood in Manhattan was known for being a bohemian neighborhood with several clubs for the gay community, made up of homosexuals, Drag Queens, transvestites and male prostitutes.

Although there were several of these bars, there was one - the best known - named Stonewall Inn, which was built by three members of the local mafia with an investment of 3,500 dollars.

On the night of June 28, 1969, riots began in this bar between the police and the gay community and continued for 3 more days.

The following year, to remember these events, the world's first gay pride march was held in New York.

Meaning of the colors of the LGBT flag

The origin of the gay flag dates back to 1978 when the organization of the gay pride march in California asked artist Gilbert Baker to design it and have it represent the LGBT community in the United States.

The rainbow flag is said to be inspired by Judy Garland's song 'Over the Rainbow' from the movie 'The Wizard of Oz'.

Initially, it had 8 stripes of colors, representative of the community's characteristics:

Pink: Sexuality
Red: Life
Orange: Health
Yellow: Sunlight
Green: Nature
Turquoise: Magic
Blue: Serenity
Violet: Spirit

However, a few years later, it was decided to remove the pink and turquoise colors and thus remain in 6 stripes.

I did some research to find out why the LGBT community is celebrated on these dates and I wanted to share it with you.

There are times where these people are not taken into account or simply treated badly because of their sexuality, I think they deserve the same respect and value as any human being, in this world we are not all the same, there are different thoughts, ways of being, beliefs, etc.. Everyone lives their own time and we must respect the other and love each other more so that the world is different, without anything else to say I will leave you a video of how I made this beautiful makeup, I hope you like it my loves.
