[ESP/ENG] El silencio de las maquilladoras/ The Silence of the Makeup Artists

El día de hoy no vengo con los tutoriales de maquillaje que acostumbro subir en esta plataforma. Si no con un maquillaje un tanto diferente y que posee un gran significado, con el cual me uno a la iniciativa creada por muchas de las chicas más esforzadas y talentosas que he podido ver durante mi estadía en HIVE. Siendo testigo de como muchas (al igual que yo) empezaron desde 0; sin materiales, sin técnicas y sin equipos. Pero que han logrado crecer poco a poco con esfuerzo y dedicación, tanto en talento como comunidad.

Today I don't come with the makeup tutorials that I usually upload on this platform. But with a somewhat different makeup that has a great meaning, with which I join the initiative created by many of the most hardworking and talented girls that I have seen during my stay in HIVE. Witnessing how many of them (like me) started from scratch; without materials, techniques or equipment. But they have managed to grow little by little with effort and dedication, both in talent and community.

Si nos ponemos a mirar al pasado, hace 1 año más o menos cuando muchas de nosotras comenzamos, podremos percibir el contraste entre la calidad de nuestros trabajos iniciales con los más recientes. De como hemos sumando conocimientos y experiencias, mejorando nuestra técnica, adquiriendo nuevas herramientas y perfeccionando los trabajos de edición (que requiere de mucho cuidado y criterio para no perjudicar el maquillaje) y redacción para traerles post de mejor calidad. Y todo esto considerando las horas y horas de estudio, practicar y ejecución hasta alcanzar el resultado que hace hoy en día la comunidad una de las mejores en mi opinión, por la alta calidad presentada en los trabajos de sus integrantes.

If we look back to the past, about a year ago when many of us started, we can perceive the contrast between the quality of our initial works and the most recent ones. How we have gained knowledge and experience, improving our technique, acquiring new tools and perfecting our editing work (which requires a lot of care and criteria to avoid damaging the makeup) and writing to bring you better quality posts. And all this considering the hours and hours of study, practice and execution to achieve the result that today makes the community one of the best in my opinion, for the high quality presented in the work of its members.

Pero lamentablemente no todo puede ser perfección, y es que así como recibimos apoyo de muchas personas, hay otros que nos hacen múltiples críticas y hasta llegan a tomar acciones que nos perjudican directamente sin dar explicación alguna. Hasta donde sabemos todo curador es libre de dar su visto bueno o malo a través del upvote o downvote, entendemos que de esta manera aprueban o rechazan nuestro trabajo y eso es entendible hasta cierto punto. Como maquilladora y sabiendo bien del tema he visto a cierto curador dando downvote a chicas que han hecho trabajos impresionantes, en los cuales no solo se ve su esfuerzo y dedicación al momento de hacerlo si no la alta calidad y profesionalismo que muestran y como estas se han visto afectadas por las acciones de esta persona, a la cual cuando se le pregunta ¿por qué? ¿Que hice mal? ¿Que debo corregir? El solo responde “no es nada personal, mis votos son al azar” Dando a entender que ni siquiera revisa nuestros trabajos antes de menospreciarlos. Esta acción nos ha llevado a varios sentimientos entre los cuales destacan rabia, tristeza y hasta miedo al no saber si dedicar horas y horas, para poner en alto nuestra comunidad y de la nada venga alguien que ni si quiera presta atención a nuestro trabajo y evolución a desprestigiarlo.

But unfortunately not everything can be perfection, and is that just as we receive support from many people, there are others who make multiple criticisms and even take actions that harm us directly without giving any explanation. As far as we know every curator is free to give their approval or disapproval through the upvote or downvote, we understand that in this way they approve or reject our work and that is understandable to some extent. As a makeup artist and knowing well the subject I have seen a certain curator giving downvote to girls who have done impressive work, in which not only their effort and dedication at the time of doing it but also the high quality and professionalism they show and how they have been affected by the actions of this person, to whom when asked why? What did I do wrong? What should I correct? He only responds "it is nothing personal, my votes are random" implying that he does not even review our work before belittling it. This action has led us to various feelings among which stand out anger, sadness and even fear of not knowing whether to devote hours and hours, to put up our community and out of nowhere comes someone who does not even pay attention to our work and evolution to discredit it.

En fin, es por eso que el día de hoy rompemos el silencio realizando esta iniciativa con la esperanza de ser escuchadas.

Finally, that is why today we are breaking the silence with this initiative in the hope of being heard.
