Combining hobby’s photography and 3D prints

Hi again Hivers a few weeks ago I posted about getting a new camera the Olympus OMD E-M5 mk2 and its been really great but one of the things that has bugged me is the standard camera strap which all ways seems to get in the way.

So on a recent trip to the camera shop in Exeter I had a look at some different straps and one that caught my eye was the Peak Design quick release system. I was about to pick one up when I noticed the price and almost passed out. Nice as it was I’m sure I can sort something out on the 3D printer. The photo is off their website. Even just the end clips were expensive.

After a quick check** Thingiverse** I found what I was looking for as someone has posted an STL file for the clips and a quick dig around the garage turned up some 25mm webbing strap. So almost there.

I just needed to design some buttons in Tinkercad which took 5 minutes.

And after a couple of hours on the printer it’s all done.

Now for the hardest bit getting the line through the buttons.

And it fits together very well. So I’m very pleased with the result and more money saved for some new lenses. But more about that later.

So the new strap is a lot more flexible and if I need to I can just unclip the buttons. So just what I wanted.
