One of the most beautiful destination for tourists in South Kerala is the Alappuzha district. This place is famous for houseboats along the rustic backwaters. It is popularly known as the "Venice of the east" focusing on the enormous numbers of Houseboats plying along this backwaters.
When we set our journey to this beautiful destination it was partially raining and it was cold.
Though these houseboats start their journey by 9.00 a.m. they come to a halt by 6.00 p.m. The most wonderful view where one cannot take his eyes off, at the different types of houseboats coming to a halt in an aligned matter.
Though I belong to this state, I had been here only twice due to ticket fare and other expense. But one will enjoy the beauty of the so called nature while travelling in this backwaters. Its a beautiful sight with greeneries dividing the water into two halves.
A small island in the midst of the river make it more beautiful. An hour's halt for lunch is available at this island. This place is more like a dense forest with huge trees around. A leisure walk is possible along this greenery.
