| Экзотариум в Пятигорске мы с друзьями наметили посетить на случай дождливой погоды. В один из последний дней нашего путешествия пошли дожди и мы отправились в Экхотариум. И ничуть не пожалели. Там очень интересная коллекция небольших млекопитающих, змей, пауков, ящериц, рыб и насекомых. | My friends and I planned to visit the Exotarium in Pyatigorsk in case of rainy weather. On one of the last days of our trip it started raining and we went to the Exotarium. And we didn't regret it at all. There is a very interesting collection of small mammals, snakes, spiders, lizards, fish and insects. |
| Есть там и земноводные. К сожалению, большинство лягушек при нашем посещении спрятались в камнях и растениях. Мне удалось сфотографировать лишь вот эту лягушку древолаза. Интернет определил её как Silverstoneia flotator. | There are also amphibians there. Unfortunately, most of the frogs hid in the rocks and plants during our visit. I only managed to photograph this Poison dart frog. The Internet identified it as Silverstoneia flotator. |

На привычную нам лягушку они похожи только внешне: в естественной среде они не любят воду, не квакают, не прыгают, а живут на деревьях, передвигаясь за счёт присосок на лапках. Кожа этих созданий невероятной красоты, но пропитана смертельным ядом. Яд они получают из еды, поэтому в неволе быстро теряют свою токсичность. | Poison dart frogs are native to South America. They only look like the frogs we are used to: in the natural environment they don't like water, don't croak, don't jump, but live in trees, moving with the help of suction cups on their paws. The skin of these creatures is incredibly beautiful, but it is saturated with deadly poison. They get the poison from food, so in captivity they quickly lose their toxicity. |

| Некоторых животных разрешается трогать и брать в руки под присмотром служащих музея. Но ядовитых лягушек трогать совсем не хотелось. Мы полюбовались на них за стеклом. | Some animals are allowed to be touched and handled under the supervision of museum employees. But we didn't want to touch the poisonous frogs at all. We admired them behind the glass. |
