Chubbs Splinterlands guide / 3 Chaos legion Pack Airdrops

1647130447411.png

Given my Hashkings guide did well I thought I would keep the game guide thing going with Splinterlands. Quite frequently I find myself finishing in Diamond League tier 3, so while I wouldn't consider myself a pro I do have quite a bit of experience playing Splinterlands.

In todays write up ill go over the Splinterlands basics some of my game play tactics, also why you should & I do complete every daily challenge.
image.png

Intro

Playing Splinterlands over a year now I can say the $10 I paid for a spell book required to transfer assets is the best $10 I ever spent.
image.png
This little spell book purchase realistically can be the only expenditure necessary. However your odds & profit increase with the assets owned so there is a reason to pay for more Splinterlands assets.

You have two Major blockchains with Splinterlands NFT markets HIVE & WAX.
image.png
Given that Splinterlands has been number the one blockchain game by daily number of users for months now on Dapp-radar. I apparently am not the only one that feels this game is worth playing every day.
https://dappradar.com/rankings/category/games
image.png

You can earn NFTs & packs by playing your daily challenge or via seasonal rewards. Both options after the Spell Book $10 purchase can be free, However paying for rentals is recommended.
image.png
You may rent Cards in game or on peakmonsters.
https://peakmonsters.com/rentals
Ill get back to rentals a little later for now simply understand that play to earn games Splinterlands included reward users for having more invested.
image.png
That being said one of my first legendary gold NFTs came from a single reward chest from a Bronze daily challenge.
image.png
Seasonal & daily rewards increase in number as your rank increases. Since your account power comes from the NFT cards in your account & is required to advance through the leagues a good colection goes far.
image.png
So even though I rent many cards to get enough account power its more then worth it. Given I play daily & the reward chests at my rank tend to pay for the rentals.
image.png
For instance I was able to get all of this from last season rewards at Diamond rank 3 40 reward chests.
image.png
image.png
While not great I did get a pack & 3 other packs from the daily challenge through that season. That alone pays for the rentals roughly $12 total, which allows me to pocket the overhead.

Packs

Packs are a great part of Splinterlands as unlike most NFT packs the Odds are not fixed you can alter them yourself.
bill_nye_mind_blown.gif
Using 5 of each type of potion shown below modifies the odds when opening 1 pack.
image.png
I utilize 5 of each type of potion on every pack I open without exception.
gold_legendary_splinterlands_2022_1_25_.png
Considering to date I'm up to 14 legendary gold cards total, you may just want to give the the benefit of the doubt potions matter.
image.png
Buying Chaos Legion packs in game costs $4 a piece bulk purchases have a discount. Buying in the in game market qualifies your account for a chance of receiving the next Chaos legion card added to packs via airdrop.
image.png
You see once 1,000,000 Chaos legion packs are sold any account that purchased 1 chaos legion pack a a small chance of receiving the new card added.
image.png
These added cards from that point onward can potentially be found in Chaos Legion packs. Even packs sold before the new card is added can contain a new card.
image.png
This is part of the reason I can say for sure potions matter, because the contents of a Splinterlands packs are determined when you open them.
south_park_nfts.gif
A pack design such as this is quite rare in the NFT re-sale business I have only encountered it once in over a year of doing this.
image.png
Though yes you can & I do open packs at a loss this can change as time goes on. Renting assets or even holding on to them is advised as with enough time value tends to increase.

As at the moment there is a oversaturation of certain cards due to the packs being available. This means opening packs with the intention to immediately sell isn't always going to be profitable.
splinterlands_new_universe.gif
While not immediately that profitable as the NFTs have a blend burn use case they have a price likely to increase as supplies dwindle.
image.png
https://tribaldex.com/tokens
As for many the incentive to buy packs for rewards can be profitable we can find the same packs on secondary markets at a real discount. While no you dont get Airdropped cards for purchasing & no bulk discount, $1 off a pack has its own rewards.
image.png
For instance I buy from HIVE markets & supply WAX markets at a profit.

Weather your buying packs to open, sell, or just HODL there is no denying they are a very important part of this game.

Markets

The NFT resale with Splinterlands can get deceptively complex fairly straight forward when selling in game. However Card Packs & land plots have to be sold on secondary markets.

HIVE gets even more complex as the Cards themselves have their own secondary markets & the packs Totems & land plots are treated as crypto.
image.png
https://tribaldex.com/
Some secondary HIVE based card markets include
https://monstermarket.io/
https://peakmonsters.com/
https://www.cardauctionz.com/
Card auctions even gives cash back options when buying cards.

When talking WAX markets all available NFTs are treated as NFTs as WAX does not support Splinterlands crypto.
image.png
So on WAX markets Cards Packs & land plots are all on the same markets.

A WAX market with a incentive to both buy & sell is Nefty Blocks.

image.png
https://neftyblocks.com/
With NEFTY mining cash back & staking options Nefty Blocks is my preferred WAX market.
https://wax.atomichub.io/market
These are 2 other WAX NFT markets without trade incentives.
https://nfthive.io/
image.png

When you have the Spell Book purchased & your WAX wallet paired to the game. Use the tools page on Atomic Hub to transfer assets from WAX to the game.
https://splinterlands.atomichub.io/tools/overview/splinterlands
You may need to know this as like in todays post I airdrop quite a few Splinterlands NFTs via WAX airdrop URLs. If your one of the lucky readers you might want to know.

While Splinterlands NFTs may only be found on HIVE & WAX their strictly crypto crypto meaning the crypto that cant be considered an NFT like DEC / SPS can be found on a few blockchains.

Like BSC, ETH, TRX, & STEEM are all examples of blockchains that support either SPS or DEC in addition to HIVE of course.

Utilizing the popularity of Splinterlands your advantage you can be highly profitable, not only in the standard supply & demand context, but liquidity pools & renting as well.

To keep things simple Splinterlands markets are varied & come in many forms on several blockchains.

SPT

image.png

Splinter Talk Token is the HIVE alt awarded for blogging on or curating others content on Splintertalk.
https://www.splintertalk.io/
image.png
Share your battle challenge is something I recommend new players do every week its a consistent source of SPT.
image.png
What can SPT do for you? That question has many answers but for starters SPT qualifies for the SPS airdrop which ill get to latter in the write up.
image.png
https://www.splintertalk.io/nfts/
SPT also is used in their special SPT NFT store, There are a few SPT Diesel pools with rewards, & there are a few curation services for SPT on HIVE.

Earning Mechanisms

I have touched on some of these already, but I will elaborate on some of the Splinterlands earning options. You have 3 forms of crypto earned by players one way or another in Splinterlands & on Splintertalk.
image.png
DEC earned in ranked matches, or by renting / selling in game.
image.png
SPS earned for now via Splinterlands asset ownership & the SPS airdrop.
image.png
SPT earned on Splintertalk for posting about Splinterlands or interacting with others posts.
devider_moving.gif

image.png

Now DEC is awarded for ranked matches but the amount awarded changes based on a number of factors. DEC rewards are based on a shared liquidity pool which refills at the beginning of each season. When the DEC liquidity pools are full you earn the most per win. Some other factors include your current league, your assets total burn value, recent win/loss ratio, & what cards you play.
yugioh_did_say_card_games.gif
image.png

SPS is currently earned via airdrop & the airdrop points you have determines daily payout.
image.png
https://sps.splinterlands.com/airdrop
You can also get double airdrop points on HIVE DEC liquidity pools.
image.png
However liquidity pools are not simplistic & require prior knowledge of there inherent risks.
image.png
Assets in any of the above wallets that have been linked to your game account qualify for the SPS airdrop.
image.png

SPT I went over in the section before this simply interacting with the Splintertalk platform on HIVE can earn users SPT.
https://www.splintertalk.io/

Now the earnings mechanisms dont stop here but given I have much more to go over I'm going to cap this section here.

Game play tips

image.png
Above is a card with many of its parts identified for reference, it is a Monster card there are two main types you will encounter Monsters & the Summoners of said Monsters.
image.png
6 element types exist in game
image.png
Dragon summoners get 1 additional element (Splinter) to summon from & neutral is used by every element (Splinter).
image.png
The three main attack types are Mele, Ranged, & Magic details shown above.
image.png
Speed, armor, & health also play a very important role.
image.png
I cant tell you how happy I am they added all the abilities to their tutorial Abilities make or break high rank matches.
image.png
Blast, Double strike, & Blood Lust are among my favorite offensive abilities.
image.png
Commit the abilities to memory, many can be used as match modifying rules, or in the case of immunity / flying meant to combat a match rule sets.
image.png
Both summoners & monsters can have abilities.
image.png
There are many abilities I have memorized them all.
image.png
Occasionally daily challenges require you utilize specified abilities.
image.png
Combo abilities for super effective play styles such as thorns + triage.
image.png
image.png
image.png
Positioning is very important as certain attack types have limitations. Mele for instance without modifiers only attacks from first position.
image.png
Ranged attacks without modifiers can not attack from fist position.
image.png
Magic has no limitations but abilities are made to nerf it.
image.png
Knowing what every ability rule & stat means will inevitably help you play better.
image.png
League tiers are progressed through by having enough account power & performing well enough in ranked matches that season.
image.png
The Higher your league you finish in each season the more reward chests you get. Not only that but the higher the odds of receiving Chaos Legion packs.
image.png

Your Daily Challenge reward chests also increase as your league increases. Also the Daily challenge reward chests have increased pack drop rates.
image.png

Renting the cards necessary to have enough account power is a common practice I rent cards to get to Diamond 3 all the cards above & below are rented.
image.png
All of these rentals are a good guide for choosing your own rented cards.
image.png
You can see other then a few must haves I rent Common & Rare cards that are leveled up. This is due to them being useful & cheaper.
image.png
What League your in combined with the level of your used summoner determines what level monster you can summon.
image.png
Keep the fact cards have a blend use case in mind weather you play or just intend on selling as the utility of a card isn't solely determined by its base stats.
image.png
As you level a card up by blending the same card together it decreases the supply & increases the assets utility value.
image.png
Knowing how useful abilities & cards are will help you determine potential future value.
image.png
Knowing that High level summoners are required to play higher leagues you can actively use this info to either help yourself play better or make a killing on rentals.
image.png
Not every legendary card is made equal in fact there are legendary cards less valuable then rare cards when fully leveled up.
image.png
Knowing how useful the card is when used comes down to understanding the games mechanics as a whole. Though the last 2 cards shown above ☝️ are great given the matches have Mana caps & it takes 11 Mana to summon either they are not always the best choice
image.png
Take this match for instance with a mana cap of 21 using a card requiring 5 Mana as a summoner giving me 16 mana for monsters using this 👇 card would be foolish.
image.png
Normally a great choice when in perfect conditions you need cards for any condition.
image.png
This is why I rent many cheap cards at higher levels with low mana this match rule set for instance prohibits using cards over 4 mana.

Not how I on the top have many of the same cards as the opponent mine are just leveled up.
image.png
Most of the players rent the biggest cards possible its better to rent the right card in comparison to the biggest card as they are just used more frequently.
image.png
I won both matches shown above just knowing the rulesets in each match is incredibly useful.
fry_shocked_shocked.gif
One of the best parts to Splinterlands is the unpredictable nature, there is no set answer that always works.

That's why in my game guide ill give you an idea of how to improve your own playing style. Because there is no right or wrong answer just informed & uninformed players.
image.png

I kid you not I have memorized every rule set, every ability, & every card in my build (deck). The more you know the further you go both as a NFT vendor & a player.

blood_magic_is_dud_magic.gif
Playing every day for over a year the daily challenge is always worth it.
image.png

Chaos Legion MVP

MVP in this case meaning Most Valuable Purchase cards that are currently selling cheaper then they should be. I cant predict the future however I kick myself for not stocking up when I had the chance with DICE pack & UNTAMED pack monsters.

In that mindset these cards from the Chaos legion I feel have utility value higher then average.

image.png
image.png
image.png

Avoiding Legendary cards & Dragon Splinter as they are all legendary The cards above are 2 cards per splinter Chaos legion Cards I want to stock up on.
image.png
Of course you can never have enough summoners, its a buyers market at the moment but this wont last forever.

Guild Perks

If your a serious player you should look into joining a guild, I am a member of the Canna Curate Guild.
image.png
Though we may not be the best we always fill the bracket for guild brawls & try our best.
image.png
Our Guild Haul is level 6 & our Guild Store is level 3. This allows our members to purchase Gladius cases.
image.png
Gladius Cases are guild only packs containing guild brawl only cards Gladiators.
image.png
Though I cant transfer or sell Gladiators outright however they do have value a burn value that adds to my DEC earned per match & SPS earned daily.
image.png
I can also just burn them for the DEC
image.png
Our quest lodge is level 6 giving our members a 4% discount in the game store as well as a bonus of 7% for DEC generation.
image.png
Our Barracks is level 2 allowing us to utilize gladiators, as the game continues to develop Guild brawls are expected to become monetized.

So now is the best time to join or start a guild & get it ready for the future of Splinterlands.

Tournaments

As if we need more ways to make money in this play to earn Splinterlands also offers tournaments.
image.png
Each with its own ruleset, rewards, & creators.
image.png
You in most cases have to buy in to a tournament, I have tried a couple they are really not my cup of tea as they can be time consuming but professional players I'm sure are all over the tournaments.
image.png
You can even create your own & promote a group or event in doing so.

Top of the Market?

While not the most expensive NFT ever sold, Splinterlands do hold that title on 2 blockchains WAX & HIVE.
image.png
WAX has Splinterlands Land Region Claims as there top NFT sales ever 1st & 2nd place 2.4M WAX / $695K USD.
image.png

While no where near $600,000 on HIVE I'm fairly certain with a price tag of 48,000 HIVE the Land Region qualifies as HIVEs top NFT sale as well.
image.png
Hell I have sold over $10,000 USD worth on WAX alone nearing the $20,000 mark between WAX & HIVE. Not all was profit mind you but quite a bit is clearing well above $8,000 in profit in 1 year.
dead_pool_finish_your_tweet.gif
While right now its not exactly a sellers market there are ways to turn a profit on Splinterlands.
image.png
When you consider I started off just playing my daily challenge this sale gave me funding to play with, leading to all my NFTs & play to earn portfolio.

The $10 Spell book is the best purchase I have ever made, be patient & play every day is the best advice I can give.

Trying something new

My usual format is truly putting far to many play to earn games in one post attempting to keep everyone up to date.

Recently I have been doing deep dives into individual play to earn games, Hash Kings was number 1 & Splinterlands was my second attempt with this new format.
@chubb149/chubbs-hashkings-guide-wax-nft
So if this Splinterlands guide is something you want to see more of please let me know by re-blogging upvoting & sharing this post.

My apologies for the recent delay these guides tend to take more time then the other format & I have had some issues at home taking up my free time.

Got any questions, feedback, or suggestions for future deep dives let me know via the comments I like to hear from you.

If this does well perhaps I do a future post going into the rich lore of Splinterlands a (Blockchain Game Theory) If I'm not mistaken the first ever.
