Holden and Ford a dieing breed

I've always been a fan of Aussie built cars and I continue to support Aussie manufacturers and for a long time invested in owning Holden cars. My first car was the VS Holden Commodore Series II. This car also provided a few Aussie first although mine was just a standard executive version it still came equipped with the new ECOTEC engine which produced more power, less emissions and a more silent engine. All within a 3800 V6 Engine.

It also came with passenger side air bags a first for Aussie made cars.

Holden's 3800 V6 engine was designed in the US and is what is a Buick. A later version was released with a L67 Supercharger producing 165kw of raw power. So powerful was the engine that it was only 3kw less than the V8 models. Sadly I didnt own a supercharged version.

Unfortunately it wasn't some time until I owned another nice car, my VS got written off and I only had enough money for a VN an older slower, chunkier Holden. But I eventually scraped some cash together for a VE Series II SV6 Z in the sedan version. I absolutely loved this car.

I owned a VY and VZ prior to getting to the VE SV6 Z but this was my favourite Holden to date. It was a special varient built on the Buick specially designed in Australia. Its upgraded engine producing more power, less emissions and far superior than V8 earlier models.

The Z Series was a special version a limited edition with full sports body kits, bucket seats, review cameras the whole lot. Unfortunately on my return from work one night it was T Boned and written off.

As my partner and I were planning on children we went for a different style of a car a sports utility as we thought it would have been a better idea so across to Ford we went.

The added boot space was wonderful and saved heaps on transport costs when buying furniture. It was one of my favourite vehicles that I had purchased but that quickly came unravelled.

Investing in the 2013 Ford Kuga Ecosport version which had a 1.3L engine and a Turbo to provide added boost. It was a dream car and I thoroughly enjoyed zooming around in it. The smaller engine drank less fuel and the turbo provided the speed when needed.

Unfortunately this model was mass produced in Spain and shipped out across the globe. It had a serious issue with cooling resulting in fires. Yes Australian cars also went up in flames.

My model was one that was experiencing the over heating issues and as around the world they were being recalled they weren't in Australia because the issue was "unknown" or more so "ignored" in Australia. I lost out on this car and had to trade it in for my next car. Ford provided no compensation for any of it or the thousands of dollars I was spending on repairs.

I then went onto a Holden Omega wagon series two and had this beauty for just over a year until it was written off as someone flew up the arse end of me and write my car off. I was devastated.

I then went onto my current car which I previously posted about the VE SV6 Sports Wagon and I absolutely love this car. Ever since Holden and Ford sadly stopped production in Australia these things have been rising in price. I'll be holding onto this beast for a few years and once my house finishes building I'll get a new car and slowly fix this beast up. With 210kw I'll be looking to jam one of those specialised super chargers into it. Wagons are a bit heavier and don't go as fast due to the added weight. But they're also oh so much more Sexyier!
