Greetings #hivemotors community today I want to share with you what my experience has been with changing the tires of one of my vehicles. I must confess that out of habit and now even more so with the world crisis, and the one that my country is experiencing, changing the tires at the appropriate time does not always happen.

Debo confesar que por costumbre y ahora mas aun con la crisis mundial, y la que vive mi país, cambiar los cauchos en el momento apropiado no siempre ocurre.
This time I changed the 2 front tires of my Chery Arauca because they have already completely lost the marks for traction and water channeling, and because on both tires, on the inside, you could see the wire mesh, which is extremely serious, because I had not noticed, until I decided to check them, late but still on time.
En esta ocasión e cambiado los 2 cauchos delanteros de mi Chery Arauca porque ya han perdido por completo las marcas para tracción y canalización del agua, y porque en ambos cauchos, por la cara interna, se podía ver la malla de alambres, lo cual es sumamente grave, porque no lo había notado, hasta que decidí chequearlos, tarde pero aun a tiempo.
With this situation the question arises, when is the exact moment in which we should replace the tires of our vehicle? Many other questions also arise, such as, for example, which is the best brand? or what is the best value for money?
In the Venezuelan market we can find many brands, all imported, because the main factories of the most recognized brands worldwide have left the country, like many other transnationals. Only Firestone and Goodyear remain, and through the media I have learned that they do not produce even 20% of what they did 5 years ago. Companies like Pirelli already withdrew from the country several years ago, and the tires you get for purchase are mostly made in China.
Con esta situación surge la pregunta, ¿Cuándo es el momento exacto en el que debemos reemplazar los cauchos de nuestro vehículo? También surgen muchas otras preguntas como, por ejemplo, cual es la mejor marca? o cual es la mejor relación precio calidad?
En el mercado venezolano podemos encontrar muchísimas marcas, todas importadas, porque las principales fabricas de las marcas mas reconocidas a nivel mundial, se han ido del país, como muchas otras transnacionales. Solo quedan Firestone y Goodyear, y por medios de comunicación he sabido que no producen ni un 20% de lo que hacían hace 5 años. Empresas como Pirelli ya se retiró del país hace varios años, y los cauchos que consigues para la compra en su mayoría son de fabricación china.
So when to change the tires?
It is clear that you should not change it when you find yourself in a situation like mine, however, the exact moment of when to change them varies according to the manufacturer, because who else than themselves to know the quality of the product they sell, and when exactly it expires. However, here I share a simple list of general signs that I found in my vehicle's manual, and that help us to know when to do it.
Es claro que no lo debes cambiar cuando te encuentres en una situación como la mía, sin embargo, el momento exacto de cuando cambiarlos varía según el fabricante, porque quien mas que ellos mismos para saber la calidad de producto que venden, y cuando exactamente caduca, sin embargo, acá les comparto una sencilla lista de señales generales que encontré en el manual de mi vehículo, y que nos ayudan a saber cuándo hacerlo.
The tread is visibly worn, some tire manufacturers place marks to establish the minimum level of depth.
When we see that the flank is cracking.
Hole in the tread that is greater than 10 mm in diameter, it is not recommended to place a patch.
The bead is damaged or deformed (it is the bead of the tire that sits on the rim).
Uneven tread wear, this may be from a damaged shock.
La banda de rodadura esta visiblemente desgastada, algunos fabricantes de llantass colocan marcas para establecer el nivel mínimo de profundidad.
Cuando observemos que el flanco está agrietándose.
Agujero en la banda de rodadura que sean mayor a 10 mm de diámetro, no es recomendable colocar parcho.
El talón está dañado o deformado (es el reborde del neumático que se asienta sobre el rin).
Desgaste desigual de la banda de rodadura, esto puede ser por causa de un amortiguador dañado.
To make the change, look for someone specialized
Anyone who has read me before will know that I am a promoter of do it yourself, however, changing the tires requires specialized tools and machines, which make it easier and guarantee that the job is better. It is true that it could be done without machines, but in my personal opinion, there are no guarantees that it will look good.
Quien me ha leído antes sabrá que soy propulsor de hazlo tu mismo, sin embargo, el cambio de los cauchos requiere de herramientas y maquinas especializadas, que lo hacen más fácil y garantizan que el trabajo quede mejor. Es cierto que se podría realizar sin maquinas, pero en mi opinión personal, no hay garantías que quede bien.
Another important aspect is that the site we choose has qualified personnel, no matter how modern or simple the place is, the important thing will always be good care, and the appropriate procedures when replacing the tires.
Otro aspecto importante es que el sitio que escojamos cuente con el personal calificado, no importa cuán moderno o sencillo sea el lugar, lo importante siempre serán la buena atención, y los procedimientos adecuados a la hora de reemplazar los cauchos.
One of these extremely important procedures when making the change is balancing. This is where the experience and knowledge of the operator are important when carrying out this work. It is important to keep in mind that the balance of the tires that we are replacing, is lost over time, so, new tire, balanced again.
Uno de estos procedimientos sumamente importantes a la hora de hacer el cambio, es el balanceo. Es aquí donde la experiencia y conocimiento del operador son importantes al momento de realizar esta labor. Es importante tener presente que el balanceo de los cauchos que estemos reemplazando, se pierda con el tiempo, así que, caucho nuevo, caucho balanceado nuevamente.
In conclusion, I was quite satisfied with the work done, in addition to the learning that this experience leaves me to check the rubbers more frequently, especially in the areas that are not visible. It has also helped me to deepen and learn more technical aspects, which serve to give a more accurate diagnosis, and determine when the useful life of the tires of my cars has ended.
En conclusión, quede bastante satisfecho con el trabajo realizado, además del aprendizaje que me deja esta experiencia de chequear con mas frecuencia los cauchos, especialmente en las zonas que no son visibles. También me ha servido para profundizar y conocer mas aspectos técnicos, que sirvan para dar un diagnostico mas certero, y determinar cuando a finalizado la vida útil de los cauchos de mis carros.
