Country: Ghana
Nickname: The Black Stars

Last World Cup Appearance: 2014 (Group Stage)
Previous World Cup Appearances: 3 (2006, 2010, 2014)

World Rank: #60
Star Players: Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus

Ghana will be looking for the ultimate revenge after being drawn in the same group as Uruguay. Thomas Partey helped guide Ghana to a 1-1 away goal aggregate win against Nigeria in the African World Cup qualifiers to be one of only five African nations at the World Cup.

In my opinion it's the hardest confederation to qualify from with all the talent in Africa, and the increase to nine with the expansion of the World Cup to 48 teams in 2026 makes more sense.

Ghana's 2021 AFCON performance can't be forgotten as they crashed out in the group stages following a loss to Comoros of all nations. And gone are the days of Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari, Asamoah Gyan and Stephen Appiah at World Cups for Ghana.

World Cup Group: Group H - Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay, South Korea

Prediction: Ghana will be looking for the ultimate revenge after being drawn in the same group as Uruguay. It'll be an uphill battle for the Black Stars as they'll be the lowest ranked nation at the World Cup.

It'll be the weakest team the Ghanaians have ever had at a World Cup but Thomas Partey has been instrumental for Arsenal and the team does have some depth specifically in central defence with the likes of Alexander Djiku, Daniel Amartey and Joseph Aidoo. Jordan Ayew provides experience upfront for Ghana and Roma young run Felix Afena-Gyan could be one to watch.

It's hard seeing how Ghana will progress past the group stages but I think they'll do much better than a lot of people expect. There will be a lot of feeling in the game against Uruguay and I feel they could steal a point from the game. There's just a little too much talent among the other teams for Ghana to get out of this group.
